I've been working since I was 13, mowing lawns, shoveling walks, etc.
First job applied for: Watering the arbovitas, (evergreen trees) downtown Lindsborg, KS
Cleaned the KTEA office
Did LOTS of farm work..baling hay, harvest, etc
Lee's Thriftway- Grocery store while in HS & college carrying full load, plus sports, pretty much 40+ hours week
Worked dirt construction for a while down in Plains, KS on the new Water Plant there
GMAC- was the field rep: basically taking dealer audits, and the "Repo Man"..Loved this job, got let go for doing too much!
Started at the Prison in Hutchinson, KS
Got married , left the prison, started with a Collection Agency, with prior experience from GMAC
Hated Commission based pay, started at Asbury Hospital as Patient Acct. Rep, also head of collections dept.
Beneficial Finance for quite a while, due to collection experience, when I started, delinquency was over 14%, when I left, under 1%!!!
Got tired of no matter how much you did, it wasn't enough, and, should be able to do that, plus more, EVERY month...Went back to the Kansas Dept of Corrections, (Prison System) at the new "SUPER MAX" Facility at ElDorado, KS. Should have stayed there!!! I ran the Disciplinary and Administrative Segregation unit there, which is the "Cream of the Crop" of Kansas inmates. They don't come out of their cells with out leg irons & belly chains, and, only one (1) out of his cell at a time! the REAL bada$$es!!! It takes a special mentality to work there, believe me.
Transferred to the Ellsworth, KS facility in a "Futile" attempt to save my marriage! Planned on retiring from the KDOC, but went on Social Security Disability in 1995 due to the near fatal wreck I had in 1983. Finally caught up with me, breaking or shattering EVERYTHING from my knees up.
Now I do things around the house: remodeling etc, as well as my Intarsia wood carvings.
