Real or Fake...
...Christmas Trees...
Which do you have, real or fake?
If Real:
What species?
Cut or Balled?
Do you cut your own or choose a pre-cut?
How big?
If Fake:
How old?
What color?
Does it rotate?
When do you put it up?
When do you take it down?
Do you decorate your Truck for the holidays?
I like real, I cut it my self, usually blue spruce but looking for a 6'6" Fraser or Douglas fir this year. This year is my daughter's 1st Christmas so I also got a 5' balled Norway and will plant it across the yard from my son's 1st tree. We also have a fake one so my wife can have a decorate it like a Macy's tree. That's 4 trees. The fake comes down 1/1, the real one comes down after 1/6 when Christmas is really over.
As for my truck, it is already bright RED with flashing lights.

[Does it rotate?] Hey! That's personal!!
I have a method to get a good price: I go on a really COLD day (dress warm) and point out a tree at the far end of the lot, and when "we" get there I ask the price, then point out another tree at the other end, ask same thing, and keep doing this, until finally he will say "I'll give you this one and load it on your Truck, for ($20 to $25=my price) and I say "sold!" He breathes a sigh of relief and gets warmed up after I leave.
Don't care what species, but I am choosy about what it looks like: not too tall, full, but not too fat and it's got to have a nice shape and not be too old, NO limp needles!!
Only REAL ones for me!!!

andthensometoo: LOL!!!
Great idea but last year after Christmas I finally broke down and bought a fake one for 75% off. but at least it doesn't turn. My mom has one of those white turning ones with the three color light that shines on it. Talk about returning to the 60's era!!

Fake here, mom got it about 2 or 3 years ago. We used to buy christmas trees from a local tree farm or we would cut one down in our pasture. One year we just cut the top off of a tall one, worked out great.

Just bought my first fake one. Got tired of 'rasslin with the real ones. They never look as big when your cuttin' em down, as they are when you try to stuff 'em on thru the door to the house!
If I may digress a little here, this topic reminds me of the most unusual pine tree I ever saw. On a friends property there is this 60 foot pine with 4 separate trunks! He says many years ago someone cut the tree for, he asumes, a Christmas tree and left the bottom few branches. This now huge pine, grew from those branches to what it is now! It's really something!

Both, gotta have a real tree and a faker. Reals at home and Fake's at school. The fake I think is about 15 years old. Got it at a place in Enid Oklahoma that has been out of business for about 10 years. Reals maybe 3 years old? (Been in ground)

Always go real. Go up into the NC mountains around Cashiers (pronounced "cash-ears")to a little old man named Mr. Potts who gives me a good deal when I buy one for the school as well. Always Frazier Firs. These things stay green for about 5 months after you cut em! Big one for school about 12 foot for $25 and the little one, 6 foot for $15. Have to talk to him a while to get that price. We talk weather, dogs, common aquaintances and farming etc. Never talk price until that is done. It's considered rude to just launch into business around here. Otherwise it's $35 and $25. He cuts em down for me as I do not like manual labor. No fancy shakers and bailers here. Just throw em in the back of the truck and go. Always wait till the last minute.
Gotta get a real one, they smell better.

Finally went to the mountains, yes mountains in NJ, and cut down a Concolor Fir. Didn't see one copperhead or diamondback, yea we have those too along with bears and coyotes!
The tree smells like oranges, and will last till Easter.
It was so much easier this year to just toss it into the back of the truck and have the whole family along to pick it out.

FAKE - I even leave the lights on it from year to year. Take it out, remove the sheet that covers it, plug it in and walk away - 'cause my part is done...

Tnt sounds like you live alone. Let me guess, if you have to go somewhere and all your clothes are dirty, you wear the ones that smell the best.(IYO)
