Angry Mishaps

Last sunday night some lamo smoked my F150 while I was doing some xmas shopping!!!!! HO HO HO MERRY XMAS TO ME. >

The damage is in the rear quarter, between the wheel and the bumper. The insurance, state farm is being awesome, they let my ford dealership do the appraisal which reduced my fear of a cheap job! They are replacing the bumper, the taillight, the wheel well trim and the 4x4 sticker. They will repaint the entire rear quarter and during the 7 days it will be in the shop, state farm will pay 80% of my rental. (explorer 4x4, they had no f150 or bigger!)

I'm mad about the truck getting smoked, but I'm really pissed about the a-hole who did this and didn't stick around. It was a super busy shopping night, people everywhere and no one did anything and the upsetting thing is I know some people heard or saw this, way too many people in the parking lot at meyers!

AND, to boot, my company has, since november 15th, placed www.f150online.com on the filtered list and I got a speech from my boss..haha to coin Manx on this subject: "those bastards!!!"

<im at home sick this morning!> HAHA productivity this pal!

Cloaker: what a terrible Christmas present, I'd want to kill that lamo. So no one seems to have seen a thing and the idiot left the scene. Maybe killing is too good for the guy, torture comes to mind!!

Ouch! I hate those stupid, careless people. When you find the person {s} who did that, play a little game called Chinese Water torture!

I got one to, Merry Christmas to me!
There was a van in the fast lane and a dump truck in the slow lane. At the lights I moved into the fast lane. To make a long story short, I'm following two big vehicles side by side going about 45 in a 55 (I was a fair distance back). What do you know, one of them throws me a present and puts a quarter sized star right in the middle of my windshield. What are ya gonna do

Unhappy

I've been watching a lot of stuff about road rage lately on tv and it makes you sit back and think. Of all the times that I followed too closely or passed somebody on a 2 lane highway b/c I felt their 65 in a 55 was too slow or ran up too fast on traffic ahead of me, etc, I was so close to losing my truck and my life. What if they slammed on their brakes or a tire blew? I am courteous to people merging on the highway, and others. But no more racing people to stop signs or exit ramps or speeding up when I really shouldn't. A few times I have done a minor "I'm not going to let you get away w/ that kind of driving", no more, now I'm just going to let them continue driving like an idiot and just stay out of their way.
The only time I flash my brights is in courteous manner or to let them know that they were a little too close when merging in front of me and I'll tap my brakes if I feel uncomfortable about someone riding my bumper. Of course I'll continue to speed, but I'm just going to do it better. Cruising speed not competition speed.
I believe I am more of a defensive driver than an aggressive one, but I want every instance that I get slightly aggressive to stop. Every once in awhile I get approached by an aggressive chevy driver on the road that will purposely run up behind me, pass me, and cut me off or try to beat me to some location (and cut me off). It's not worth it and its not necessary. I have nothing to prove to him. I have far more security in the quality of my vehicle to acknowledge his ignorance.
I don't want a mishap, wether it be accidental or road rage.

Cloaker, really sorry about your mishap. But I have to admit... State Farm is a damn good insurance company. A few months ago a guy in a Camry literally flew into the back of my truck. All the repairs(2 weeks) were done by Ford and I got a 4.6 V8 F-150 SC XLT as a rental car. Really Cool!!!

Well said, ponysix8. I too have been much more reserved in my driving manner, especially with 4500 pounds of monster under my right foot. It is so easy to get mad at the other idiots on the road, but you will be the better person and waste less energy on some loser if you turn the other cheek. Don't get me wrong, I have done some dumb things in the past also, but have realized I would rather make it to my destination a little late than to not make it at all. There are so many things in one's life much more important than making it to the mall before the other guy or racing the dude who hasn't learned to merge.

Thumbs up

Ponysix8..I personally find it refreshing to read a statement of maturity such as yours. For a young person nowadays to have a handle on their emotions (with all the media hype about the younger generation's "death wishes")you could teach some of us old farts a nice lesson in reality. Keep up the positive influence, others do notice!...j.b.

Red face

I live in a appartment building with underground parking. The idiot who parks behind me drove into my rear bumper, while parking yesterday. My truck didn't even get a scatch, his Toyota Corolla now has no grill and a dented hood.
Gotta love the High Ford Bumper, on my 4x4.

In my 92 f250 a year or so ago, I rearended an acura at a stop sign. We were both turning right, and I honestly couldn't see him accross my hood, and there was a break in traffic so I accellerated through him. $5000 damage to him, and all I did was bend my front license plate. BTW I'm also on state farm, and I have nothing but good stuff to say about them

Cloaker,

Very sorry to hear about your mishap. The same thing happened to me in my Ranger about 2 years ago (about in the same spot on your truck also).

My wife was rear-ended in her car about 1 year ago. The driver at fault sped off and was never located.

The person that hit you, me and my wife are COWARDS. They are afraid to admit their mistakes and would rather flee instead of owning responsibility.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where people (some/most, definately not all) think that they are no longer responsible for their actions.

Be thankful that neither you or your family was injured--sheet metal can be repaired but life cannot be replaced. :-)

Good luck with the repairs,
Good luck to all!

RFT
