How many times on the rack?
For those of you that are not on the E-Mail list. An interesting topic came up. Seems a fellow wanted to be talked out of buying a Toyota Tundra over an F150. Well, the subject turned to how many times you'll end up going to the dealer.
GOOD Question!
Please put how many miles you have on your truck and how many times it's been to the dealer or shop for repairs.
1. Dash lights out at 3000 miles - dealer - fixed
2. Rough idle at 3100 miles - dealer - normal operation
3. Clunk in transmission at 3100 miles -dealer - normal operation
Thanks,
Mark G
Update: 13 Sep, after many replies pro and con he's sticking with the F150.
Tina, Thank you, and without conqsoft it probably wouldn't be there.

2,500 miles never been in.
Speaking of import trucks I drove my Nissan 106,000 miles and never took it back to the dealer.
I only hasd to do routine stuff like oil changes to it.
I'm on the disscusion list also.
I considered Toyota till I found out that a V8 wasn't avalible in regcab.
The Tundra V6 regcab cost as much as my truck.

46K on my truck
around 2k ck engine light came on: Ford reprogramed computer
around 4k shaking left rear view mirror: Ford replaced
All oil changes at every 3k until 35K on truck, then found an outside site to change oil
Also went to Ford for the lug nut recall and the rear spring fix recall
That's it. I only go to Ford now to look at and test drive the new 2000 models
And my truck just runs better and better

Mine has never been in except to get some paint fixed that the dealer messed up before I bought it. I do however have a rearend leak that I need looked at. It has 20K on it right now. My '94 Ranger was in once for the radio and it lasted 131,000 before I traded it on my F-150. It never had a problem. Both have been through the routine maintenance religiously.

3,400 miles, went to the dealer the first time this weekend for free oil change (the first of many free oil changes, 3 years to be exact). The only problem I've had, the flashing light for the aftermarket alarm (installed by the dealer) stopped flashing. They fixed that in 5 minutes when I took it in.

In two years and 38,000 km (24,000 mi), two recalls (re-designed wheel nuts and correction for throttle body freeze-up in very cold weather). Two other trips for the same thing: replace clutch slave cylinder. Other than that, not a single problem. Cost to me: Zero.

MN99F150,
Instead of "tunnel cover" try "tonneau cover". Unless, of course, you do in fact have your own tunnel and it's covered...

My 98 I had:
bought it used with 12,000 miles
18,000 bad wiper motor switch, dealer replaced with a wiper switch from an Expedition, including the controls for the rear windsheild wiper that F-150s obviously do not have!
18,500 door seals, and power window lifts repaired, replaced or lubed. Door pilar crack looked at, could not be repaired because of body and frame damage from massive accident.
The selling dealer replaced it with a 99 with only 532 miless since they did not disclose the damage to me.
99 so far
2,900 miles dealer checked alignment and popping sound from catalytic converters- no problem found, popping sound finally disappeared at around 3,200
No problems technically but I would still like to have the alignment checked, I have a slight drift to the right.

Bought my baby with 19,100 on her. Called the dealer and checked on recalls, both had been done he said no need to bring it in. I also called the service dept., body shop manager and finally the service dept. manager for the door pillar crack (drivers door only manual windows). He looked at other trucks on the lot and called ford, and he told me about the service bulletin, again no need to bring it in. Do my own oil changes and minor work.
