( by my standards anyways )

We need more snow. Hard to drive the Ski-doo on 3 inches of snow.
You need a studded track.

I actually just picked up a hardly used 1.25 ripsaw that is studded also. The only problem is that the studs are too short and don't extend beyond the ripsaw track. On a groomed trail is where it will really shine. But we really don't have enough snow to "groom" yet.

Still have the factory track on. Probably wait until after Xmas to get the other one put on.

I envy the cold weather you get out there. I'd be out for sure with 6-8 inches of ice, but walking only.

There are quads out on the ice already. My old man pulled is smaller 2 hole shack out with his quad and he is on about 6" of ice.

As for envying the cold....a couple of months of -45 to -55 with the windchill gets old really fast.

What are you catching out there right now? Whats in season? I think just perch is in season right now here. Lake trout doesn't start til Jan 01.

Mostly walleye and perch. Catch the odd pike and mariah? ( sp? ) As for trout, we have a few lakes around me that you can get some rainbow trout at.

You made me look up Mariah. Never heard of Burbot being called Mariah. We call them Ling, or Ling Cod. I've heard of all the other names used for them in this Manitoba article, though.

They're good eating too! One season I was up near Algonquin Park and I had hut with a woodstove. Good thing I brought my frypan and butter because I caught one of them there Mariah fish, and I cooked it up right then and there. Damn, it was very good and I'm not much of a fish eater. It was pretty easy to clean as well. Just pull back on the head and everything comes out with it.

I learned me something new

Can't say I've had one to eat. I know I hate catching them though....
