Good Video

On yahoo's homepage there's a series of videos with Mike Rowe comparing the 09 F-150 to all other 09 half tons. They do a lot of real-word tests (not catching an empty container dropping off a cliff). If you've got the time the videos are definitely worth watching.

Nice comparison.. Seems to be pretty straight forward and 'honest' in that they do show you what each truck did on each test and then run the videos 'in sync' with each other..

I couldn't believe how much the Yota's rear end twisted on the river bed test... I thought it was going to snap off..

The towing comparison was interesting in that built in 'sway control'... Pretty cool stuff.

I went ahead and "built" me a truck I'd like and while going thru it came on the 'tow' stuff and they are offering an integrated trailer brake controller deal like the big boys.. Now, that's cool! It came in at $39 grand for an XLT, SuperCab, 4x4, 5.4 with most of the options, so I won't be getting one real soon, but I can always dream!

What I found during the build that was interesting, was when I tried to get the running boards that automatically fold away as opposed to the chrome tube running boards, I had to give up practically all the other cool options?? Like the 18" chrome wheels and LT rated tires and the whole 'tow package' deal.... WTF???

Anyway, it was interesting and I'm glad Ford is still on top of the whole 1/2 ton truck group (as well as the HD side too...) and I'd get one if I could!

I guess I'm going to have to deal with my 192,000 mile 1997 F150 that started this whole new 1/2 ton truck market! ha, ha!!

Mitch

I want to know what engines all the trucks were using for each individual test. I'm entirely convinced about the MPG test. Didn't they say that they were using the most fuel efficient engines for all vehicles? I'd trust this more if a 3rd part would have done the test. For all we know, all the trucks had their 5.7's and 87 octane fuel while the F150 had the 3 valve 4.6 with 93 octane.

Good videos, I dont believe the fuel test unless the truck had a 4.6 either. Petersons Offroad just did a 4x4 test and gave real world fuel economy and Ford did the worst with the 5.4.
