Talking

I know I haven't been here the longest but I signed up on November 11, 1997 - the day I got my truck.

Well sonny....
It all started back in the summer of '48. There was this pinging noise in my new flathead F100. I heard that an old man named Steven Ebineezer Eppinger had a similiar model. So I sent him an inquiry using a new fangled communication called "Air Mail". Eventually, I got a response from the old fart. He said, to him, it sounded peculiar to say the least and I said "What?". Anyhows, soon after, 'piston slap' was born.

And that's the way it was.
And that's the way we liked it.

The thread starter 'TColegrove' was also known as 'Tom in Tacoma' on Ford Truck World. He was the number one Moderator there until he gave up that job a year or so ago.

If you go to "MEMBERS" and then date joined, it gives three or four pages of 1969 memberships, but you finally start recognizing names around 1997 with WEBMASTER, then JMC etc to follow in 1998. That must have been when the new server was brought online. Maybe the '69 dates are just Steve's way of migrating some of the older users to the new server.

There was something else used before this type of Message Board.
It was like an electronic mailing list that you could subscribe to.
It ran concurrently with the Forums for awhile. I joined here first and I have a 'joined date' but I was also a subscriber for awhile but withdrew because it was cumbersome. I remember when I quit I got an automatic message that said, 'Hope it wasn't something we said or did'. (I wonder if people who get banned from here get one of those?)

Anyway I suspect the '1969' people are the original 'mailing list' members. I can understand why Steve wouldn't make them re-register and the Database requires a date in a date field.
