After breaking the door down at the store and killing this guy those idiots still ran through the store to buy crap. They should have shut that store down and kept everyone inside until they indentified the people who trampled that poor guy. I hope they identify them and prosecute.
I am with you, my wife and I would be no where near any of this mess, we hang lights on black Friday. We do all of our shopping in October and November, we don't really save any money, but we get everything the kids want and we don't have to fight to get it. Last year though we did go out of state to my wife's parents a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving and everyone at dinner was talking about the Wii and how cool it was and it would be hard to get at Christmas, so after dinner we called around to a few stores and all the stores were sold out, but Walmart said they had some coming in at midnight. We don't like getiing involved in this kind of drama but we said the hell with it and we went over around 10:45pm and noticed a small line formed. So we jumped in and waited and we were sixth in line. So long story short, probably a hundred people showed up in that hour and fifteen minuets and we were told that there was only six units. So needless to say we were sixth in line so we got a unit. But I will tell you the tension in that line was just horrible, i thought there was going to be a riot. People were cursing and trying to cut in line and fighting with the employees, it was f'd up. I will never get involved with any of this crap ever again. The worst part about it is the Wii totally sucks, the thing just sits there and no one even touches it..

This is beyond sad.

We're at a time where we are bing told this is the worst economy since the Great Depression. We are told that millions of people are being forclosed on. We are told that there are millions of people that will have to choose between eating and heating their house. We are told that there are fourty-seven million people in this country without heath care. We are told that there are more and more people in need of assistance. We are told this every day and still people wait in lines at the *** crack of dawn to save a few bucks on preasants.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! We are told daily how bad this country is hurting and people KILL SOMEONE to get a good bargin?! We blame the Bush administration. We blame Wal-Mart. We blame corporate CEO's. We blame big oil. We don't for one second blame that who is the largest contributer to the problems in this country today. PEOPLE. Stupid people who believe that getting a bargin on some fad item is more important than a persons life!

If we are in fact in the worst economy since the Great Depression, why on Earth is it so important for people to go out and spend all this money on all the gifts? People aren't thinking that now would be a good time to pear down? People aren't thinking that they might want to make sure that they can have money to eat and pay their heating bills before they TRAMPLE SOME GUY TO DEATH to get a bargin?!

People wonder why our country is so f-ed up? You don't have to look at the White House. You don't have to look at Exxon/Mobile. You need not look any further than your own community. It's people, like the people who trampled this innocent guy to death, who make our country f-ed up.

It's not just sad. It's sick. It's sick because people have said loud and clear that this is how they want things to be. Everyone thinks that they deserve a peice of the pie and have shown that they will kill to get it.

Tom, unfortunately, we are in a "I want..." society. People equate possessions with love and with success. Even though people may declare bankruptcy after the holidays, there is still the unfortunate rush to get "things." Some people equate happiness with ownership of expensive "things."

There is a student in my school, who, upon her 16th birthday, was presented with a 2008 Mazda-3 by her parents. Guess what---she wrecked it the other day driving carelessly on some ice. Guess What (X2) Her grandfather paid to have it repaired She knows nothing of responsibility. Some of my fellow teacher and I have a pool as to when she will wreck it again.

You are correct: many folks in the US are certainly F-ed up; there are no two ways about it. This is the "ME" generation.

The cops should have showed up and locked everyone inside, gotten all their info and charged ALL of them. No excuse for grown people acting this way to save 50 bucks

Its not just the younger generation, people as a whole are f-ed up. People these days think they deserve to get whatever they want as soon as they want it. It starts really with the baby boomers, they have that mentality and they have passed it on to their children, who have passed it on to their children. It has gotten worse and worse and shows no sign of stopping. If they were more strict about this then these things wouldn't happen, if there were armed police there that set rules, and arrested anyone who broke them this would be better.

Sad. The sense of entitlement some people have is amazing. It is sad, but I can believe that this sort of thing happens. I am surprised the number is so low with the way some people act these days.

Store could have some negligence here as well. Terrible that someone was killed by this fiasco.

What about the shootout at Toys "R" Us? Just holiday cheer all around.

I doubt very much they will be able to press charges as has been said how do they find the person responsible?
Over the miscarriage well who goes to something like that being pregnant? I am not defending the mob rule but its pretty damm stupid to do it in that condition bad judgement on her part I would say!

My wife told me an interesting story over her experience of shopping on Black Friday (I was working so could not go).
Staples had some deals on blank dvd's so we decided to get some, little did we know what experience was in store. On entering the store and finding the dvd's she had to take a ticket and then join a queue to pay and collect her goods. They only had 2 registers open and the queue for them was right to the back of the store. When u got to the registers u had to hand over your ticket & someone would then go to get what good you wanted. Apparently you could not move around the aisles in the store because of this queue. It was crazy, you could not even get out of the store without going through a register, which meant fighting your way past/through the mob. My wife thought screw this and left without buying a thing, it was a complete cluster k--f!!!!

This is why everyone in my family does all their shopping on the internet. It's cheaper and you don't get trampled!
