Looks like a great project to me. These trucks are rare. If you fixed it up, you would definitely have an 'eye catcher'.
I have seen a ton of the old vans fixed up. Would it be logical to assume the engine swaps done in vans would easily work in the pick-up?
I have driven these old econoline vans, but have never done any real engine work on them. Please let us know how it turns out.

We used to think they were hard to work on , untill the modern cars came out

Hey I just acquired a 62 Econoline Pickup. Looks like it's in similar shape to yours. It has the stock six but has had a C-4 added. I am interested in putting a V-8 into it and have been given a used 302. From what I understand the 65 Econo came with a 289 option. Supposedly the engine mount crossmember from a 65 will ensure an easy bolt in. Do you know anything about that or where to get the mount?

There's a fellow not that far from me that has one of those. It's a pretty interesting set up. It's downright ugly in person.

I ended up passing on the two that were offered to me. They may still be available though. The man that owned them has passed away, they may still be in the widows back yard. The next time I'm in the neighborhood I'll take a look.

Id get like an 08+ e series van and get an 08+ Superduty 6.5 bed and do it that way. That would look sick.

Notice in the above picture, there is a big dent right in the middle. That is from pushing them My older brother had a Falcon van, We used to push start it occasionally

The engine also makes the center seat. It gets kinda warm on the but there.

From what I understand the Econoline vans and trucks initially were called Falcon as they were similar in construction using the unibody as the Falcon cars were using. Some brainiac came up with the Econoline badge.

Useless Ford fact...

My father worked for a Ford dealer in the 60's and they had a problem with the Econoline pickups tipping forward under hard braking with no load in the bed. Fords fix was to install a 200 Lb weight on the rear axle.

Did they throw a person under there?
