Post How hard can you go?

What kind of RPM's do most of you accelerate at off the line? I myself, like to keep it just under 2500 rpm...Ya, I'm a wimp. However, a friend at work, will take his truck well over 3000...explains his 17MPG to my 20+ mpg.

I just watch it shift (1-2) anywhere from 4,500 to 5,000. I like to wake her up every chance I get. I don't care about milage. PLEASE don't be in front of me when you are doing your lil 2500 rpm off the light!

I start a idle.
Even then I have to let into it slowly or the tires just spin.
In normal driving my tach doesn't go over 2,500.
If i am stuck behind some one I don't get over 2,000
If someone wants to challenge the mighty 5.4L then it goesto the floor

On a nice day, when it HAS'NT just rained My insistant case of leadfootitist always acts up. Usually I shift around 4500, really depends on what's beside me though. And I never spin even going WOT from a dead stand still. Trucks just to heavy and I've got LS. Hey, in the old days, they'd say I was just blowing the carbon out the pipes I just think I'm a true bonafied southern redneck.

Just for testing purposes to see the difference in fuel economy, I tried keeping it under 2000 rpm when accelarating. Very difficult to do when you see people blowing passed you and looking at you funny, especially because I have a huge FORD RACING sticker in my rear window. I calulated it out to be a gain of 1 to 1.5 mpg gain. Coarse, that will never happen again.
