DVD burning?

I was wondering if anyone on here makes there own DVDs? And if so, I have a couple of questions.

1) I am currently using ConvertX to DVD, and every time I try to convert to .avi from the original DVD, the end result file only turns out to be like 35-45 minutes. WTF!?

2) What is the best software out there, that will allow the input of chapters, etc.

And what are ya'lls recommendations for a converter/burn software?

Thanks guys!

Feel free to send me a PM and I will tell you everything you need to know.
Speaking openly about this subject might cause certain people to feel uneasy.

If you want to do it legally, you can try the program DVDFab5. It's free for the first 30 days on a trial basis. It works great and is so easy even a woman could use it. You can also copy movies and get rid of the FCC stuff and copy the movie only or copy individual chapters. It will do dual layer or it can compress large movies onto a single DVD, all at the click of the mouse. I don't have it but a friend does and it works fabulous. You MUST buy it from DVDFab 5 or don't expect it to work. Licenses for this program come from them only, not some after market guy.
