So, he put that in a letter, signed it and distributed it to the employees?
He should just have the title to his house an car in hand when the lawyers come knocking.
With an employee count of 140, one could make the assumption that it could possibly be a private employer. The law is pretty clear that a private employer can fire someone based on their political speech even when that political speech does not affect the terms and conditions of employment. A public employer would be prevented from firing someone based on political speech (because that would constitute the government itself suppressing free speech.)

Only if they are an At-Will employee, or it was stated in their employment contract.

Funny letter considering the layoffs have already started long before Obama came to be. Gee, we haven't had layoffs like this since, uhm, oh yeah, Reagan. But you guys keep supporting that trickle down thing. Maybe some day you'll wake up.

What's better for your business, less taxes or more customers?

It won't matter. There isn't going to be a business left.

I'd support that reasoning. Funny thing is that we DID have a lay-off a few weeks ago... and 2 of the 5ppl layed off DID have Obama bumper stickers!

LoL... first lay-off this company has had in it's entire 32yr history. Business sucks right now.

"The Boss" sounds like a douche to me. He probably owns a douche company in a douchey town with douchey people, lives in a douchey house and supplies his wife with all the douche she needs. - Og

I just got this email the other day. Definately got laugh.

I normally don't get in threads like these because I could care less about politics, because most all politicians are a bunch of lying cheats. On the other hand when is the last time a poor person gave anyone a job. Why spread the wealth when the wealthy usually are the business owners that provide jobs!

To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.

If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,

The Boss
I actually heard a business owner here in Denver call into a conservative talk station here before the elections saying he had actually walked through his parking lots and wrote down the License plate #s of those with Bama stickers. The host and him agreed that it would absolutely be legal in Colorado as this is not a right to work state and as long as a reason for termination didn't include prohibitions set forth by the E.O.E. act.

A divided nation won't work. Remember the civil war? Whole families split on political issues. Now we're in another war and the stay the paths have evidently switched to we want outs. Even though they did show the twin towers movie at intervals over the years to maybe remind people of the anger we felt but have somehow lost that anger now.
