Rev- Iphone application used as a scanner for vehicle performance...
Sorry if the tittle is misleading but I didn't really know how to put it. Anyway, check this thing out, it seems to be pretty kick *** for something you can do with a phone.
Sorry if it's a repost.
Rev is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that monitors, displays, and records real-time vehicle data. By communicating directly with your vehicle's ECU via its OBD-II port, Rev is the first iPhone and iPod touch application to give you complete access to everything you want to know about your vehicle.
thats pretty cool. i bought something similar a while back called CarTrack. does basically the same thing but without plugging into the truck. and the speedometer on it was pretty accurate.
They just released the hardware for it and the final version of the app. is going to be in the app. store for 49.99, hardware is going to cost 229.99. I have the REV-Lite on my phone now. It's supose to be a full OBD-II scan tool and will keep track of everything the vehical is doing. Not sure if it's $280 cool when you can get a good programer for just a tad more.
Hmm... seems pretty cool. Wonder what all parameters it would record ? Wonder if the tuners will start using that to get some feedback from your truck. Might be handy.
How does it work, if it doesn't plug in ???

Some of it has to do with the GPS in the I-Phone. For you to get readings such as Fuel Consumption, Engine Coolant Temp, Fuel Pressure, Calculated Engine Load....you need it plugged into the OBD port. Those parameters I just listed off are a small amount of what the REV program is actually going to offer you. The REV-Lite program I have has about 20 parameters...I'm sure the full blown version will have more. The adapter is going to work through WIFI so there will be no wires involved. Just plug the adaptor into the OBD port and start the program on your I-Phone and ther it all is.
