^^ I agree.

I think this $50 Billion loan/bailout/stimulus the dems are pushing for is really to help the UAW get there big pension payments they are due for here shortly more than it is to help the big 3 succeed. The big 3 need to go bankrupt and then reevaluate what they can do from there.

IMO:

GM needs to cut down its brands. They should have Chevy, Cadillac and maybe Pontiac. Everything else needs to go. Hummer, GMC, Buick, and Saturn can always come back if GM turns things around later on down the road.

Ford should get rid of Mercury. Its whole lineup is just rebadged Fords anyway. Cut the fat.

Chrysler needs to step its game up in regards to quality. ASAP. Everytime I see a dodge truck the first thing that pops in to my mind is crappy transmission.

All brands should step up there efforts to get hybrids and more mpg vehicles on the road. why dont we have a hybrid taurus, fuzion, g6, impala, malibu or charger yet?

Legacy cost are KILLING the big 3. I read that every GM that sold has $1500 in legacy cost (healthcare, pensions, etc) in its price tag, where as Toyota has $125.

We also need a more balanced trade policy. Quit making it so cheap for the foriegn automakers to import cars here when its so expensive for us to get our stuff out to their countries.

so anybody get in while the getting was good?

I ended up getting in on some more stable stock - GE and Ford

I bought 100 shares of each about 2 weeks ago and have made about $400.

So far so good for my first time investing in the market! (outside of my 401K)

Their stock is OVERvalued right now. That target is zero for a reason!

Its credit rating is "JUNK" for a reason.

I would not give you money if that was your credit rating.

I'm not touching the stock market with a 10-foot pole. I took my 401K distribution out of E-trade and into anything else. With all the bozos buying low and selling high (yes, the cause of these wild swings every day) and the days of long term investing seemingly long gone, that's not a roller coaster to jump on.

Yeah good move on the Ford shares. It was down to what $1.29 a share a couple of weeks ago?. Today it is hovering around $3.18. I should have bought some myself..

There are too many people not buying american anymore. There are people all over this forum selling their trucks to trade for another non-american truck or car.
