Yes that is right folks. I managed to shoot my truck while trying to sight in my 30-06 Remington. I have never seen a scope so badly messed up. After about 11 rounds I gave up @ 100 yards. Moved in to 75 yards and it was just as bad. But on my first try with open sights I hit the target. My Weaver scope had bit the dust officially after examining the optics.

Anyways, for those curious how I managed to hit my truck with a round, it was quite funny. My father-in-law laughed too. I was using my bed rails as a stabilizer. The end I was shooting off of was much higher than the other side. I aimed at the target and no where in the optics was my bed rail. I pulled the trigger and the bed rail exploded. I made a perfect shot through the plastic portion of the bed rail and out the other side. Just a very very light hint of primer is showing on the paint. I will post the carnage pictures tomorrow. But my wife doesn't know yet.........shhhhh !!!! But the optics were messed up so bad that the gun was shooting about 1' low at just the truck. It was hopeless trying to mess with the scope.

On a side note, I am picking up a Leupold for $250 bucks off a dealer @ cost.

thats why every intelligent and rational citizen deserves a gun. some illegal shoots at me, if i stop my truck to defend myself and manage to shoot him in the head is anyone really missing?

 

I mentioned it was only the bed rail. So it was the plastic part of that.

my experience is that when the scope is about an inch higher than the barrel then the bullet starts out about an inch lower when it exits the muzzle

 

nope it didnt hit anything important. I was drivin home from Mcdonalds and some a-holes decided they wanted to have some gang activities.

those guys probably thought i was crazy when i started chasing them...

I chased them for about 2.5 miles maybe more. I thought they threw something at me. So all along im chasing these guys that shot at me. They probably were scared to death.

you just gonna get a new bed rail cap? or leave it there. i left mine because it was too expensive to fix.
