Make my check for $50,000. that would stimulate me, and greatly improve my life. $600 won't do **** but lower my debt by $600. $50k would eliminate my debt, and get me a nice down payment on a home, that I can afford, and leave me with plenty of monthly income to pay taxes, insurance, retirement contributions, etc.

Who has the majority right now? I think the first stimulus package was a bad idea, I think the bail out was a bad idea, and I think another stimulus package was a bad idea.

My point is that generally Dems spend more money on social programs, government, etc. Obama isn't in office yet and he, Pelosi, and Reid are wanting to do another stimulus package. Just making a point.

Any time, ANY DIPCHIT that is in the White...decides to give me back some of the money that they have been taking from me, money that is mine, money that I earned, is NOT a bad idea. Please explain where I am wrong. And remember, this is not a personal attack on you as an individual. I usually agree with you. Not sure why we are at odds on this issue.

Here's my problem... The economy is in shambles right now and it seems like noone knows what in the hell is going on. Everyone's answer is to throw money at . My problem is the "packages" are full of CRAP for everything from studying migratory ants to money for ACORN!! Our government can't pass a bill without adding 200 million dollars in freaking ear marks to it. If you want to help me, decrease my income tax.

I spend money on the things I need and occasionally things I want. I buy things I can afford, if I can't afford it I don't buy it. That mentality seems to be gone in our society. Our gov't; dems and republicans both, are instilling the idea that if things get bad throw more money at it. I agree with you Shines when you say it's money you earned and paid in to the gov't, but what about all the folks that didn't pay in. They get a check too. You paid in 10 times as much as some of those folks, but got the same amt back.

I hope I'm wrong when I say Obama is going to make the economy worse with all his programs and ideas. Only time will tell.

Obama is already stimulating the economy. Many are using their savings to buy guns and ammo. Hell, 40 malt liquor sales are through the roof!

Here's my problem. The infrastructure of our great country is falling apart. We have a huge trade deficit. They cant inspect or check the quality of imports due to financial shortfalls. All the cities and states are cutting back services because of high gasoline prices just to name a few things the Fed are supposed to do.

What do we propose to do? Cut taxes (revenue) on business who either don't pass the savings down to the consumer, don't hire more people and actually do more with less (or ship the job overseas) or pay out huge dividends, bonuses and high executive salaries while the business goes bankrupt or needs a bailout?
While we look at business paper bottom line and brag how good the economy is when it is not.

What should money be spent on at your house if the house is falling apart, you cant afford to check where your food comes from and the price of everything is going up while your wage stays the same?
Would you give money away, fix the house or save it?

I'm sure some of the people that post on this forum, used some of the money for the purpose of paying these smaller debts.
All joking aside, I got 300 dollars the first round, and I own my own insurance agency, small business (just me), and it helped tremendously. I was just getting started, and I used it for gas and supplies to go meet clients and it really helped me get started. I make a darn good wage now, but it was rough starting out. I don't care who sends it, any help is appreciated, and help from unexpected places like the government blows my mind - in a good way. Thanks, Bush, and if you are next to pay me, thanks Obama!

If the Governmetn wanted to stimulate me, they could send me $600/month... I'd be happy with that.

That would help.

Not a good idea. Economic 'stimulus' plans such as this do nothing but create an artificial dependence on the government. Lessons in history that are forgotten, are lessons soon repeated.

When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.
-Benjamin Franklin

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been about 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
From courage to liberty
From liberty to abundance
From abundance to selfishness
From selfishness to apathy
From apathy to dependence
From dependence back into bondage.
-Alexander Fraser Tytler

I was actually refering about, the people that owed me money. My collections went up, and I was able to pay my bills at a time when I thought I was going to have to start laying off employees.

Who knows, maybe my clients used their stimulus to buy their policies from me, so it's about the same!
