An Irony of this Election
An Irony of this Election
Last night, we tried to vote at the county board of elections; the wait was 2 1/2 hours. Se said, "screw it", got up early today and were at the polls by 6:00AM (they open at 6:30 here in the Buckeye state.) Anyway, we were the first to cast our ballots, and, when I left, the line was at almost an hour long.
My thought about this is, though, why isn't this always the case---why shouldn't this be the issue all of the time? Ironically, while the lines are long, and people are happy about it, shouldn't we, as Americans, exercise our privilege---our obligation---like this on every election day?
After it is all said and done, I wonder what percentage of registered voters will have cast their ballots.
A great day, but sadly, this should be the turnout all of the time.
