Specialized Rockhopper - Any mountain bikers in here?
To be fair though...you can really only blame frame issues on the original manfuacturer. I don't know of too many that make ALL their own parts. ie rims, tires, chains etc.
As to brakes I agree that given a choice hydraulic disc are the way to go. Mechanical disc is an upgrade from rim brakes imo though.
Lefty's....tried to ride one and could not wrap my brain around it and crashed...Just didn't sit right with me.
I think the best thing is to buy from a reputable shop, one that has been around a while and will be there if you have problems.

Dunno, but my Cannodale was friggin sweet, and I beat the HELL out of it. I did trail riding, but mainly I was into doing street stunts, and impressing the girls
