Adding music to iPod help

So heres the deal. I've slowly been putting all my CDs and songs onto an ipod, have roughly 1200 or so on there right now.

Now, when I add a CD, or buy a song or two off iTunes and then go to add it to my iPod, I click the 'add only checked songs' option, figuring it will only add the one or two songs I just bought to the iPod...well, it does, but it also takes EVERY song I have on the ipod at the time OFF the ipod, and leaves me with ONLY the two songs I just added.

What the heCK do I need to do so I can just hook my ipod up, transfer my two new song from iTunes to my iPod, and it wont **** with all the other songs on my Ipod.

I cant figure it out. I have to sit and wait for it to REtransfer ALL my songs off my itunes back onto my iPod, just to get my few new songs on the ipod. Takes for ever and drives me up a Fn tree.

I just wanna hook it up, add ONE song, and still have all my other songs on there. What do I need to do????

Im thinking Ive dont that before too and it did the same thing...I cant remember now though. Ill have to try again though.

But, what your saying is that if I have that box UNchecked, then click sync, it should just transfer my new songs that arent on the ipod TO the ipod, and leave the other ones alone, right?

yes. I like to manage my music manually. Just select all of your songs, and drag them to you Ipod.....

when you hook up your ipod it should sync and transfer only the new songs onto the ipod if all of the songs in ur library are checked and they are already on your ipod

What he said. It knows which songs are already on your ipod. By selecting add only selected or whatever, it only puts those songs and removes the rest. I'm sure it's some sort of way they are keeping down on pirated music or something.

Just set it to put all your music on your ipod and it'll know which ones are new and only move those while keeping all your older music there too.
