Homemade Speed Bump - Seriously!!!
What you need to do is:
Go around collecting road kill, and put it in your street. Do it as often as you can. Keep calling the city to take care of all the animals.
Or put them all in a box, and take it to the town hall meeting with you.
Subject change: Did you try the stuff you bought?

That's what I was thinking at first. His truck could handle it. It's just all his neighbors he is buddies with. They might have cars.
me and my friends used to set up road blocks for the fun of it. its fun to see if people drive by them, move them, or turn around. but most importantly DO NOT get the cops called on you, or you better be able to run fast!
In a lot of municipalities instalation or approval for speed bumps goes through the fire department, and most are OPPOSED to them because of the hassle it causes them when they respond to calls.
Funny this thread is here today because I had a run in with one of my neighbors today regarding a similar issue. Now I live in a strictly residential area. In fact my street is a cul d sac but you would never know it by the speeds these drivers reach. None of the streets in my neighborhood are a shortcut to anywhere that is for sure. she was complaining because the kids are riding their bikes in the street. She tried to blame all the kids on me because they happened to come to my house to play. My 8 y/o girl and 4 y/o boy like to ride their bikes. They always wear their helmets even though their friends do not.
I try to balance their need to play outside, as opposed to sitting on their butts watching TV with the need for them to do it responsibily. I was ok with her coming to talk to me about it. That's how neighbors should be but when she tried to lay all the blame on these children and none on the adult drivers that is where I had a problem. Yes as parents we need to teach our children to play responsibly and be careful where they ride/play/run etc. But as adults we also have to remember they are children and seldomly think past the nose on their face let alone what may happen if they do not look when they cross the street.
I thankd her and kindly pointed out the houses of the other children for her to address the issue with them. I am not sure if she thought I was going to say "OK I'll keep my kids inside till they turn 18" or what but she did not seem to like my response to her which was "you should drive more carefully when you know kids are around.

One of these kids is going to get hit chasin a ball into the street or something. I've taught my daughter to be careful and always look both ways and be safe, but I can't say the same for the other kids.
Park you're car on the street and have a neighbor park on the other side of the street, creating a narrow "channel" the cars have to navigate through. This slows them down, especially if you have an old truck and not really the best Parking job...
i think my parents tried to get a speedbump put in front of our old house when i was a kid after a guy flipped his car goin 70 mph in a 25 mph zone on our street.
we had the same situation, street used as a cut through, except ours was for the high school and the two adjoining main roads.from what i remember the city wanted to charge my parents for it. my mom said it wasnt cheap and we were poor so we didnt get it. sadly about 6 months later 2 teenagers died on my street and speed was the main factor. about a month later we had 5 speed bumps on my street.
keep complaining to your city councel and if they dont do anything and heaven forbid something bad happens, sue there ***!
