Lightbulb Should a photo ID be required to vote?

Currently only 4 states require photo ID to vote! That amazes me. Some other states request you have a photo id while others only require a bill with your name on it. Some places only ask you to state you name and address.

This is a list of states requirements, but it is pretty vague.

I personally think that every voter should be REQUIRED to show a Photo ID to vote.

Absolutely, a photo id, or at least some form of ID that verifies who you are. Perhaps part of voter registration should be a photo id for those who don't have them. Of course, there will be someone complaining that they are being tracked.

Even though I live in AZ where it is required, I believe it should be required in all states. And not just any photo ID, Govt issued only.

I feel the same and even one step further.

Every person who wishes to express their constitutional right to vote should not only have a photo ID that was issued by the state at no cost, but should also have a receipt indicating that they are current on all of their taxes. (property taxes, business taxes, personal income taxes, sales taxes, etc). By current I mean paid in full. No payments, no arrangements, no outstanding balance.

Not completely paid by the 1st Tuesday in November? Oh, well. Better luck next time. Check back in 4 years.

NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION,

NO REPRESENTATION WITHOUT TAXATION.

You guys just want to disenfranchise the poor and minority voters!

I guess it's harder for them to get valid ID's?

Seriously though, yes there should be ID required across this country.

I wonder who benefits from ID's not being requird?

Government issued photo ID and a voter registration card should be required.

I agree. But we are a LONG way from that situation

In the past, I've had poll workers get annoyed at me when I offered to show my ID. They told me it was against the law for them to ask for or view IDs in California.

That was a long time ago. I always vote absentee now. If you vote absentee like me, you should need further steps, like a photo ID and matching sig to be eligible for an absentee ballot, and maybe a thumb print, too.

My personal opinion based on anecdotal evidence is that voter fraud is rampant, and largely favors the Democrats. Election officials know it is going on in many cases, but will not try to stop it because it furthers their political positions.

Of the 5 million+- illegal immigrants, how many will vote this year? 1 million? 1.5 million?
