So I couldn't wait anymore and decided I would go to the track before I bought some slicks. Now Ive never been to the track so my R/T was way horrible. Tires were 255/60/17 so depending on what ran before my truck, quarter throttle was about all I could launch from. 60's were a joke and for whatever reason, my truck would shut down 20ft before the finish line (speed limiter perhaps?). Anyway, here are my crap times, I don't worry to much about them being as I didn't have traction, but I'm still hoping for 13s with this current set up.

As you can see, obviously I can do a lot better, R/T sucks because I have to give so little throttle off the line I was more worried about traction then jumping the line. Also, with no traction best 60 I could do was a 2.2. I got smoked by a full bolt on lightning in the 15.02 run, he ran a 13.1 with a .03 R/T and a 1.9 60'. So looks like I need tires and a tune to take off the limiter and then Ill just work on launching. Had a lot of fun my first time out, always fun to beat the **** out of the truck.

 

Maybe this is common knowledge but what are your mods?

You did good for a first time out.
Don't worry to much about the reaction time,,,your time doesn't start till you break the beam anyway.And you'll get better the more you do it.
Just need to work on your 60' and top end. The rev/speed limiter has to go or be upped to about 6200RPMs
I run a DOT slick,,,that way I can put them on at home and drive to the track legally. The slicks will knock a good 2 or 3 tenths off your 60' time.

Yea I plan to get some M&H Drag Radial Tires but they are only 28" tall. I wanted something more along the line of 30" but its all I can find for 17s. I have lariat rims to with no tires that are 18's but still not much there either. Currently I have a stock 3.55 rear end so I'm not sure what to do. I plan to get a VMP tune with bigger injectors to turn off the limiters and hopefully get a good safe tune. Then hopefully I break the 13.99's

 

If the limiter is kicking in, then get a tuner, and what about your rear end gears?

 

Yea well its odd, my speedometer says I'm at like 100ish but I'm finishing at 92mph. Its probably due to running a 235/70/17 in the front and 255/65/17 in the rear when stock is 265/60/18. As far as I know gears are stock 3.55 still I don't believe the original owner changed them

Yea I figure my speedometer is off by a ways. However I'm struggling to find some drag radials. I may just end up getting some real good tires that fit 18s and just hope for the best.
