Great find Harley! Thank you!

Normally, I'd never keep a leased vehicle, but I got a great deal on it, and since the payoff will only be $14,000- I might just keep it- looking at how things are in the economy now-a-days.

We actually raced them on a back road here, I take it off the line and by the time she caught me we were hauling butt, we haven't tried it from a roll but I think it would take me pretty good.

I was just kidding- anything is possible- especially with mods.

My wife traded in her Escape on an 08 Edge 2 weeks ago. She got an SEL but it is loaded with everything that she wanted (Sync, Sirius, Vista roof). She has wanted one since they first came out but when I had one as a rental earlier this year, she fell in love. I have to say it is a real nice car, very smooth, and not "girly" like the Escape :-) We plan on taking it on a long trip in a few months so that will be the true test for comfort.

I was peeking at them on the lot, along with the escapes, and similar.

All I could knotice was how all of ford's new models have a rank wiggle in the door handle. First impression was 'cheap'. And I knoticed on the f150's, once they start getting broken in, have the same wiggle in the door handles. That's crap in my opinion.

I am surprised that everyone has very positive remarks about this model, I haven't heard much of anything about it.

I don't understand what you mean about the handles. As far as being surprised, just go drive one for a few minutes, do city streets and on the highway. You will be surprised.

Take hold of your door handle, knotice the up-down, and side to side slack.

And the Chinese plastic feel.

I read the car mags say that the brakes were lacking AFTER I bought the Edge. I wouldn't say that they are bad but there seems to be a lot of travel between when you start to apply and when they start to grab.

I'll give Ford props for the 3.5/6 speed. It does move out pretty well. The power comes on different than it does in the trucks though. For me the huge difference is the fact thet it's a FWD. Also, a truck uses a lot of torque to get that weight moving. It "feels" powerful. I think that the gear ratios play a big part in the Edge's abilities. It doesn't "feel" powerful but when I merge into highway traffic there isn't a problem getting up to the speed of traffic quickly.

I've had a supercharged 4.6 F150 and a Lightning. The Edge isn't in the same category. My last truck, the 5.4, 24v Expy moved out well. About the same as the Edge.

After I read your post I was hoping someone would talk up the Flex. I have been thinking about a new second car and looking at the Flex but the maintenance manager talked down the MPG. Haven't seen many on the road. Wonder why?

One of my daughter's has a Edge that she bought at the end of '07. Nice vehicle but she's been getting a little noise from the front brakes. Since the wife and I have been up here in Oklahoma the past few day's I went with her to the dealership yesterday and suprise they could'nt find anything wrong with it. I did get to check out a Ford GT they had in the service area and also a '09 FX4 they had in the showroom.

Just wondering if anyone here on F150 Online has got an Edge in the family. Not just the Edge though. How about a new Taurus or Flex? I'm curious how people are liking the 3.5 V6 with the six speed.

I'd also like to mod at some point. So far the only thing that I see for the Edge is a Magnaflow exhaust. Anyone seen any mods for the 3.5?

Anyone? Anyone?
We just got my wife a new Taurus X Crossover AWD. I have to say, I really like it! The Engine is Very quiet and smooth. I hope Quintin is right regarding the reliability!

I didn't realize is shared the same engine as the Edge. We would have gotten an Edge if it had a third row seat.

Both Great Vehicles!

The 3.5 and variants thereof are being phased in to replace all other Ford V6s. Next year, you'll see it displacing 3.7 liters with twin turbos in the Lincoln MKS and Ford Flex.
