I may be moving to Texas in a year or so.
I want to get a cowboy hat now and get it broke in so I won't look like a newb.
Do the colors mean anything? (White, Black, Other)
Is it just personal preference or is it like the Crips and Bloods?
Can I wear a feather in the band or is that a statement about something?
Can I wear the string under my chin like Bronco Lane?
Should I get a big one like Cheyenne or a small one like Sugarfoot or go Humongous aka Mashal Dillon?
When I'm at a table playing cards, hat on back of head like Maverick ok?
Is the Austrailian, one side pinned up taboo?
Technically, is a somberaro a cowboy hat?
And what is that word to describe a large bunch of cattle you move around?
Oh, how many cattle is required to have a bunch?

A feather is fine, you may want something like Red Legs in Outlaw, Josey Wales.
No string unless you drive a convertable or ride a fat horse.
Big hat, no small ones unless your a dentist like Doc Holiday.
No pinned up side in Texas.
A sombrerero is a fine Texas hat, but only if you are a vaquero(Mexican). Not sure what they would do to a Arab posing as a Mexican.
It's a herd, and you have to have at least 3 to have a herd.
