Voting for Obama because he is black
Kenya's In Africa. That makes him an African American, (at least half).
That's like calling a Christian from America a Catholic American.
There has been a weird push out there to make it seem like Obama's a Muslim Arab and not a Christian White/Black Guy from Iowa...
Race has nothing to do with my vote.

But the title of the thread is not about voting for him because he is African American, but because he is black. There are lots of white African Americans if we count people that have decended from South Africa, or Rhodesia. Sincie it is OK to call ethnic Arabs from Kenya black, is it OK to call them black, too?
Do you have some problem with accurately identifying his ethnic heritage? If so, why?
My point is that if Obama is mostly white and Arab, then he is not black, even if his dad is from Kenya. Which makes voting for or against him because he is black especially stupid.
Nothing to do with mine, either.

Obama is not mostly anything. If you judge by his parents he would be half black (father) and half white (mother). According to American standards he would be considered Black.
Race and nationality are two different things and Arab is not a race. African is not a race. There are only 4 races, black, white, red (indian) and yellow (asian).
The majority of people in the world today are a mixture.
Most will vote for Obama because he is a Democrat.
x2
I have people in my family that "look white"- right down to the straight hair, and everything.
My Great Grandfather is Choctaw Indian, and my Great Grandmother is black.
Liek you said, there aren't many "pure" African Blacks in the US anymore. Most of us are mixed with something, Indian, Asian, White, Latina...

His mother is white so he is classed as white. My wife delivers babies and fills out the birth forms and she HAS to put the race/color of the baby same as the mother.
According to Michael Levin, most people can be clearly identified as belonging to one race or another, meaning that most people can trace at least 75% of their ancestors to the same geographic region associated with a major racial group; however, Levin insists that anyone with fewer than 75% of their ancestors originating from the same broad geographic region should be considered multiracial:

Most Black Americans who are descendants of slavery are racially mixed with white and indian (native American). If you look at Black Africans (yes there are White Africans) and you look at American Blacks most have softer features and are a mixture of Indian and White thus so many hues. Many Africans are also racially mixed.

It's a pretty **** poor situation. All of the black will vote for him because he's black (looking), and most of the white people I know are voting for McCain, just so a black guy won't run the country.
When I was working during the summer and asked who everyone was voting for, most of them replied, "I'm voting for McCain, just so that ****ing *****r does win." I should of known that was going to be the answer. I was actually disgusted by this.

What you speak of may be the case where your wife works but it has not been the rule in this country. As I said by American standards he would be considered Black.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-drop_rule
It's a long read but make sure you read the section on Preponderance of ancestry.
Right or wrong this has been and still is how this country determines race.
"Despite the one-drop rule being held illegal (ever since the U.S. Supreme Court in 1967 overturned the Racial Integrity Act of 1924), as recently as 1986, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a decision by the federal Office for Dispute Resolution to refuse to hear a case attacking Louisiana’s racial classification criteria as applied to Susie Phipps (479 U.S. 1002) (In 1985, the fair-complexioned Phipps had checked "White" on her passport application. It was denied because, decades before on her birth certificate, a midwife had checked "colored" for one of her parents. Phipps sued, testifying that "this classification came as a shock, since she had always thought she was White, had lived as White, had had twice married as White." 479 So. 2d 369). In addition, several authors and journalists have found it very profitable to "out" as black famous historical mulattoes and whites, who were regarded as white in their society, who self-identified as such, and who were culturally European-American, merely because they acknowledged having (often slight) African ancestry (Anatole Broyard, Patrick Francis Healy, Michael Morris"
Well sir.. you are wrong. There is only one race. That is the human race. We all share genetics. Adaptation. Not evolution. Evolution is racist. Evolution says that one race is better than other races. And evolution says the black race is at the bottom. Asian race is at the top. (but there is no race) The sooner we get of this race crap, the sooner we are better off.
Evolution can be interpreted many ways and can be a tool of racist just as it can be a tool of pure science.
When we get off the race crap it will be because the religion, politics or money crap took completely over.
Man will always look for ways to feel superior to other men.

don't suprise me
Almost makes you wish you were wearing a t-shirt that read "I'm white, I actually put thought into my vote."
