I don't see it happening. They may share some technology and maybe some common parts but a merger- I don't think so. GM is a far better built vehicle than Dodge/Chrysler. GM also is way out in front in engine technologies too. Chrysler/Dodge pretty much brings up the rear in all catagories and is behind the times. Ford is leading with engine technologies and there has been talk of sharing some of the technology with the help of Government grants. Your tax dollars at work! GM and Ford will be sharing transmissions soon on the small cars and probably will on larger platforms later. But GM and Chrysler; maybe GM is looking to see what, if anything, Chrysler has to bring to the table. It certainly won't be technology. Since Cerberus bought into Chrysler, it has pretty much been gutted for the bucks....kinda like what Daimler did to it.

So, chrysler being so inferior, has spent a good majority of its time in the top three with the big hitters?

Lets hope not... we all saw what GM did to the Hummer. I'd hate to see what they'll do to the wrangler.

It couldn't be much worse. Real Jeeps died when the old CJ5 wheelbase disappeared. Now we have the Wrangler Unlimited, and while a nice vehicle, don't get me wrong, the length of it causes high-centering in a lot of places that are so-called "Jeep trails", thus defeating the entire purpose of a Jeep. Wranglers are ok, I guess, but give me a 1976 Bronco or an old CJ5 any day of the week.

The way I read it, Cerberus wants to unload Chrysler in exchange for GMAC.

I seriously can't figure out what would be in this for GM? Jeep is going to get rocked with the economy the way it is. Most people buy Jeeps as 2nd or 3rd vehicles for fun, that will change.

Aside from that, Chrysler has NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING of value to offer in the current market.
