Question Need Car Alarm!

Alrighty.. I need a few suggestions on car alarms... I'd like to stick with some quality brands. I don't think I need a remote start, but I'm open for suggestions. What is a typical price for a nice basic car alarm

So far, I'm stuck between Viper and Code Alarm, both seem to have good reviews here, but what gives me more bang for my buck? Prices seem fairly similar in comparing brands, but I'm looking for ease of install are performance.

I've seen the Viper 5900 on ebay for about $250 with shipping and it looks pretty nice if I wanted a remote start and all, but what's the purpose of the little OLED keypad? What's my next option if I just wanted a car alarm without remote start, what's the difference in price? Only problem is, how hard are these systems to install, how much would a professional install cost?

On the other hand, I've seen Code Alarm being used a lot here from kcautosounds.com. Apparently they can prewire and give pretty good instructions for self install. How are these systems different from the DEI Vipers and etc? Would it be advisable to go this route for self install, or just buy a Viper and maybe have someone install?

On kcautosounds.com they want $365 + $25 for pre-wiring for the CA srt9000. It looks like I could buy this on ebay for about $250, so would it be more advisable to just have someone else install it? Is about a $100 install charge reasonable or how much would it cost?

Sorry for the million questions.. just tryin to keep my baby from gettin jacked with

Check out Ebay store, Stereoneeds. I got my Clifford RSX 3.5 for $197 shipped to my door. Retail is $499.99. I'm not sure what all they have though....worth a look.

I have the Viper 5701 and it is a great alarm. I also have the car starter and cant complain. It has double the distance then most alarms at 2000ft. It also has a ton of features. I have it on my 08 Honda Accord. I have a Automate lcd-2 way on my truck and like the 5701 better.

There's a guy on here who works for KCautosound. Great prices, he sends your alarm all pre-wired with detailed instructions on how to install it. Search his postings, give him a call.
