Automotive Floor Jacks

I need two new floor jacks. The old ones aren't cutting it. I want to hear some opinions on some good products and even better yet some good deals. I need at least 2+ ton. Preferably aluminum. Not too tall at the lift point.

Sears has a great low slung aluminum floor jack. It is longer than some and extremely low to the ground... the rise is no more than a few inches. You probably have the same problem with your mustang that I have with my evo; the front end is so low most jacks hit before you can get to a good jack point.

I think I paid 180 bucks on sale for mine. Got it on sale though; I think they are usually over 200 bucks.

Before the Craftsman one I had one from Harbour Freight. It worked for a couple years, but the cylinder busted. I decided to spend a little more money and get a quality jack this time around.

I've heard so many bad reviews on the Craftsman aluminum jacks ... I was looking at the Torins and they have a lot better reviews and cheaper. Anyone know anything about them?

don't know if you got a fleet farm by you but if they don't have it you don't need it!

I have been thinking about picking up a set of 4 ton jack stands/w jack myself

Nope, nothing like that, unless it's like Tractor Supply.

This is what I've been eyeing, even though it's 1.5 tons, especially because of the minimum height. I think I'd be fine with 1.5 tons on my car, one on each side to jack the front.

The blue Torin aluminum low slung floor jack looks exactly like the jack I bought from Harbour Freight that broke on me. Not sure about the 3 ton red Torin jack.

Harbor Freights brand is US General. They look similar to the Torin jacks from Northern Tool. Not sure if they are just rebranded for the different stores. I know for sure the US General jack was no good.

I don't believe Torin is US General Jack. I believe they are their own company. I'm about to just say screw it and buy the Craftsman aluminum jack for $200. If it's got a problem, I'll just load it up and get a new one ...

Check out JEGS... Some guys on the STi forum swear by them. I think I remember they make an aluminum one with two cylinders so you can jack the car up quicker for what it's worth.

Yea we have both of them around here, TSC and Northerntool, kinda like fleet farm but smaller

just a thought......If you have discount tires by you or another tire place that would be willing to sell some of their stuff......I believe discount tires use 6 ton jacks...

I never thought about that ... I just looked at the 2 ton for $190 and it looks pretty nice.

I bought a new jack a few months ago, and it's held up surprisingly well in the pits at the track.

No, that was the freebie that came with it, the new jack is the one in the middle. lol...

It was purchased at HF, but has held up remarkably well, thus far. We only use it for the sprint car, and I definitely wouldn't use it on a truck, but it's actually a decent jack. The cool thing about it is it has 6 LED's in the saddle, protected by rubber, which are great when you can't see exactly where you are placing the jack under the car. No more bent tranny pans or crimped trans cooler lines. lol.

Of course, there is truth in the saying "you get what you pay for", and this thing was right around $99. If it lasts the rest of the season, we got our money's worth, but based on it's performance thus far, I wouldn't be surprised to see it last through next season, too.

I have a low slung Roush Racing jack I picked up at Sam's Club a few years ago for $69. Works great on my Mustang and my truck.
