So I'm trying to learn the basic of PS CS2 (free download) and was wondering if someone would be kinda enough to show me the basics of how to take pictures and put them on other pictures (i.e. headlights/wheels onto a truck), and also how to start making my own sigs...

Any videos, suggestions, and/or tutorials are greatly appreciated!

 

i dont have a copy of ps on my mac right now, but ill help you out the best i can. the first thing you need to do is go to the layers tab(bottom right of the screen), right click and create a copy of the image. the default( "background" ) layer is locked, meaning you cant edit it. after you have created a copy, you can drag the original "locked" picture to the little trash can icon at the bottom right of the layers tab. your best friends are gonna be the lasso tools. on the toolbar on th left side of the screen, you will see a little lasso symbol near the top. if you click and hold it, you can choose between the regular lasso, the polygonal lasso and magnetic lasso. with the regular lasso, you can draw around the tire/light. with the polygonal lasso, it draws a strait line every time you click. the magnetic lasso will automatically drop "anchors" at lines of contrast(like the conrast between a tire and the pavement behind it). after you've selected what you want to delete, pressing ctrl+x deletes whatever is selected. if you wanna cut out the outside of something(like what's behind a tire), select the edges of the tire, then right click and "select inverse". if you've got two pictures open, you can cut the tire out of one by deleting everything except the tire, then go to the layer tab and drag that layer on to the picture of your truck. then if you go to edit> transform, you can rotate the image, or resize it. if you just click the corner and drag it to resize it, then you can make the image longer, or taller, but if you hold shift and drag the corner, it will keep the same ratio(make the image taller and longer at the same time). then use the little cursor and cross arrows tool(top right of the toolbar) to move the tire or light into place. now, u see the little eye icon to the left of the tire or light layer in the layer tab? that makes the layer visible or invisible. if you click on it, you can see what your truck would look like with and without the mod.
