i had my truck at my local ford dealer to get some repairs done under warranty (aftermarket warranty) and they wont release my car till the warranty company pays them... so its just sitting there ready to be picked up and they wont let me..

You should call your warranty place to speed up payment. Your Ford dealer has the right to get paid for their work. If you had a Ford warranty you would be driving it now.

Yep, either his own truck or a loaner vehicle.

Is the dealer holding your truck 'hostage' the same one that sold you the warranty?
If yes, I think I would be calling the finance manager (in my experience, it was usually the finance people trying to sell me the extra warranty) and asking him why he sold you a warranty that his service department does not trust. I would really push the issue.
If the answer is no, I would bet that the 'warranty company' is not very reliable. You may not have any leverage to get them to cut you a break.
Good luck.
