Ike and Gas prices
How come whenever I need to fill up my truck a hurricane seems to bump the price up for a tank of gas?
Here in Tampa, FL gas went from $3.59 to $3.85 per gallon (87). How big was the price jump in your city/state?

lol, thats not that big of a deal. We cant even get gas without waiting 2 or more hours. I wouldnt sweat it. I think it will go donw once the refinerys get back up and online. I'm in the south east side of houston and we all got hit hard be the storm.
gas here is still about 3.40ish

Near me in Knoxville, most went from $3.58 to $4.49. $0.91/gallon. One station, a Marathon went from $3.59 to $4.99. What's funny is that on my way to the lake, two Marathon stations in the boonies were both priced at $4.49. Yeah that one by me is gouging no doubt. Several friends of mine have been reporting the gouged prices to our local and state leaders. I hope those stations get what's coming to them.
we have been out of power since friday at midnight
theres only one gas station by our house and we have waited in the line to get gas for the generator numerous times now. thank god cops are helping control the flow at gas stations. my only problem is my drive to school is a 50 min drive and we had to go today only for me to take a quiz and be sent back home. i told my teacher that if gas gets more scarce not to be expecting me, i have also been getting around on my 4 wheeler to save gas. im only on here thanks to a generator lol. i really wish we could get power back and also gas but they are saying it could be weeks

for the first time that I can remember, SoCal Gas prices arent the most expensive! we have been staying about $0.30 above the national average, but I saw today that the average is $3.84 I filled up yesterday at $3.67
Around $4.19 here at the moment. Before the storm it was $3.59, the night it hit it was $3.99, saturday it went from $4.29 all the way to $4.70.
Only got about 2 days worth of gas left in my tank also, I dont want to pay more than $4 per gallon again

Interesting Barrett:
I am in the Powder Springs/Kennesaw area, maybe 20 miles to the West of you.
There is not a station in the immediate area that is below $4.20 per gallon for regular and several, including the normal discounters such as Kroger and Costco are in the $4.40 range or better. I understand in Central Georgia prices are still at or around $5.00
Another issue in West Atlanta is the continuing problem of stations out of gas, either because of excess demand, or as I saw on the Evening News, stations just not buying gas until the situation settles down.

Hurricanes in that part of the world are nothing new and it never used to affect the price at the pump. Now the oil companies in the U.S and Canada use those storms as an excuse to empty our wallets. In fact all that has to happen is the threat of a major storm, whether it happens or not, and the price immediately rises. Unless I'm mistaken Canada doesn't get it's oil from the area that was hit by Ike, for the life of me I can't understand why the prices rise so dramatically up here. Just under $6 a gallon where I am.
