HDTV uh, help?

well since im going to be buying a house, i decided for the family we are not dragging the old 52" projection they bought in '01 300 miles. too damn heavy and it wont like the ride since it already needs adjusted a 2nd time now. and LCD has so many options.

im considering something over 42", but not looking at 52", budget reasons.
i think our budget falls around $1500 being the highest.

my question is which brands to stick with and which to avoid.

obviously i want the best quality for the buck. i keep seeing vizio in my price range but i have no clue about their company's quality.

Vizio, Dynex, and Insignia are good to get big TV's on a budget. Not as sharp as some, but not horrible either.

i recommend my customers Samsung every time. Sony and Sharp also make some great TV's. But if it were me, Samsung all the way. Let me know if you've got any more questions. Ill do my best to answer

I have a LG and I love it. Its a 42" and I paid $1400 almost 2 years ago for it. I am sure they are less now. You will end up paying anywhere from $500-$1000 more than the TV cost in just wires, install, brackets, warranties, etc depending on your options you choose. My total was $2350 for my TV installed on the wall professionaly.

well we got a good deal on a 52 inch dlp 1080p widescreen tv, but before that we looked at all the ones stated above. the ones i liked the most was vizio, lg, and samsung.

they are all priced pretty good. look used too, you could save alot of money

I opted for a 46" LCD projection, because I don't have, and don't wish to have HD cable.

It's just as good for HD movies and video games as the regular LCD, but you regular cable signal still looks as good as it did on the tube.

I can't stand regular cable on plasma and LCD's, the lag wand wash is so irritating.

Price? About $1300 last year, and we are also in Canada, so I'm sure it's cheaper there.

I have a 3 year old LG LCD that has been problem free. My next one will more than likely be a Sharp.
Costco's got you covered on the price! Don't forget, you're going to have to spend some money on cables, an HD receiver and a mount!

vizio looks really good. ive always been impressed. ive never heard of westinghouse so no comment there.

as for any store you go to, they will make some tv's look better than others so they will move more of those products.

is the samsung 1080p or 1080i? and what do you plan on doing with the hd, bluray, ps3, xbox, etc?

If your not on a bugdet stick with

Toshiba
Sony
Samsung
LG
Sharp

Now you have to decide b/t LCD or Plasma. Things have change dramatically since both of these were introduced. They both play good but Plasma's had a burn in issue but thats not the case now with a lot of new ones. I will say this though. If your going to be playing video games on it stay away from Plasma's. With that being said I would go with either as long as its in your price and size range. I bought two Toshiba about two weeks ago. I bought the 46RV530U and a 42RV530U. Both of these tv's are 1080P with a 60hrtz refresh rate and play beautifully. TIP Any LCD with a 120HZ refresh rate is going to be about $500 more and up. Take a look at the Toshiba Regza. All of the ones mentioned above are great screens. I suggest you go into a store and take a look at it playing. Narrow it down to about three within the same price range. If you need additional help shoot me a pm.

Westinghouse if pretty good but more on the budget side. When comparing tv's try to compare the contrast ration (ex.15,000:1, 8000:1)

I have a Panasonic. I deal with a small store that also does repairs. The one brand they see the least of for repairs is Panasonic.
