Why McCain/Palin?
Labnerd had some good talking points in there, but Jeezuz Kriest! Do you think a person has to be an expert on everything to have an opinion about it? I'd surmise a rattlesnake has bitten few of us, but we have enough sense to avoid them.
I doubt McCain has bailed hay, fed, and milked cows, slaughtered pigs, or anything of the sort. Does that make him uninterested in the plight of farmers? A LOT of farmers cheat too- make no mistake. I have a friend working with the USDA, and he said they bust farmers every year who receive money from the government NOT to plant a crop that year, then they plant it anyway and try to sell it (double dipping). Not all farmers are honest, but many are.
Can't wait- make the funeral arrangements.
It's like that anyway in America for the poor and elderly who can't afford to eat and pay for their prescription drugs. Something's gotta give. I for one don't think good medical care should be a privilege enjoyed by only the one's who can pay the extraordinary cost. Not necessarily Labnerd, but the co-ckiness of the "let them eat cake" crowd is astounding.
Get sick in America, and when you're snowed in under thousands (or tens of thousands) in medical debt- write a post then about how you didn't deserve all those rounds of chemo and radiation, and testing because you couldn't afford to pay for it. Don't fool yourself, many of us fortunate enough to afford medical coverage, our coverage won't cover 100% of every procedure. Get enough $4,000, $5,000, or $10,000 procedures, that you’re only 70% – 80% covered for, and you’ll see that we need our healthcare system (or at least medical insurance programs) revamped. Spend a few nights in the ICU, then come back and post how good the system (and the cost) is.
He wants to take the tax breaks away from companies that take jobs away from America.
Something’s gotta give... American's want to work too, don’t we? When American companies sell out the American worker to keep a few fat cat investors happy, then I say f**k'em. You can have your cake, but you can't eat it too. Keep those jobs in America and enjoy a tax break, or send them to India, the Philippines, South America et al, and lose the tax break.
I've had too many colleagues lose their jobs, and be forced to change careers with HUGE salary cuts, to feel sorry for Big Business. No, I feel sorry for my fellow Americans who have lost their houses, their cars, and their family because a few millionaires want to make millions more.
That would cost you votes from your own people, now wouldn't it.
F**K is that supposed to mean? If that means "Americans", then yes. If that means black people, that's wrong... The majority of people on welfare are white people... I get SO tired of hearing this kind of BS- like its just black people sucking on the Government teet. Per capita, that might be true, but when roll call is done, and all those broke white folks from West Virginia, Kentucky, Iowa, Wyoming, Georgia, Alabama, etc.. start showing up, then you'll see what's really going on.
This BS of no child left behind and other programs are killing us.
I agree, education needs to be revamped in this country- but that's not a democratic issue- it's a state-level issue that needs a national response. I'm all for a national standard. Education is the key to a level playing field and we are not there yet. Not as long as kids in the suburbs get better education than kids in the ghetto and in the rural areas. Parents are at fault too- but I also think we could get better teachers if they were offered better salaries. Unless you just LOVE teaching, why would you with a college degree, take a teaching job for $32,000/year, when you can get a job in IT making $45,000 to start?
PS: While the no child left behind initiative was launched in the AME church, George Bush v2.0 is the one who took it nationally- and, it is not working... You can't instill a sense of pride in kids that don't give a damn... That starts at home, and is reinforced by the teachers. However, unlike when we were kids- and our parents and the teachers were allies- today's parents eat any BS their kids tell them as Gospel, and have now become adversaries- not allies- of the teachers.
Oh well, that’s enough…
