Thumbs up Fontana Race Weekend

I went to Fontana for the weekend and hung out with David Reutimann's NASCAR Sprint Cup team at the Pepsi 500. It was extremely hot, but a lot of fun. My buddy Gary drives Reutimann's hauler, and usually set's me up with a garage area/pit pass when they come to Fontana. On Sunday, we left the hotel and went to the track ahead of the rest of the team so I could go to the NASCAR Credentials trailer and pick up my pass, yet when we got inside, they didn't have me on the list. Gary went nuts, and started calling people. He called Donna, the lady at Michael Waltrip Racing who he goes through to set up passes, and she was in South Carolina on vacation, and didn't have her laptop with her, which meant she couldn't help. Gary called David Reutimann himself, and he offered to come down to the credentials trailer and tell them point blank that I was on his personal list, but when we mentioned that to the officials, they said even God couldn't get someone in if they weren't on the official list.

So, Gary made some more phone calls, and ended up getting me a Garage Walk Thru Sponsor Pass. They are only supposed to be used by guests of the team sponsor, and are usually used for those groups you see following a tour guide around. Hey, it got me to the hauler. Once there, Gary gave me a uniform, and no one asked to see my pass after that. It was a pain, but it worked.

Anyway, I got a lot of great pictures this time, including several haulers, Dale Jr.s motorcoach, a killer bbq grill, and a Olds big block powered VW on the first page, and pics inside David's hauler, including the newest TRD NASCAR Cup engine, the latest intake manifold, and a 3" hollow sway bar, as well as pics of Joe Nemechek's wrecked car, and action on pit row on the second page.

Enjoy!

Sweet!

What's up with those tires though? They look like Formula 1 tires with the grooves in them.

Those are the tires and wheels we put on the car before loading back in the hauler.
