Canada has always been the worst as far as mobile phones go. We were the last major (maybe even completely last) country to allow you to keep your phone number when you switch providers and the only reason we have that now is because the head of Virgin Mobile (that British guy) came to Canada and said this is BS. We're still the only country that gets away with charging a monthly "system access fee" (8-10 bucks)

As far as I know they don't. Richard Branson (that's his name) was doing an interview on MTV Canada a while back.

Hopefully an American will chime in here and tell us what they pay.

For us, it's an automatic $6.95 system access fee ;per month.
(another word for this is convenience fee)
and then we've got the 75 cents (911 fee)

add 13% tax to that ($7.70 + $1.00)

Right out of the gate were stuck with $8.70 worth of bs before we even begin paying our rate plan.

Curious what our friends south of the border pay.

I was never happy with B*LL
I know they are trying to switch to the same system that rogers is on, and they are trying to get money from somewhere to do the upgrades

I'm with rogers and here is what I get from them, after checking my bill :

No outgoing text charges (10,000 Sent limit)
Free incoming
600Mbites used for web browsing 6 gig allowed
$6 access charge
Unlimited Canada wide calling after 5 pm and weekends
Visual voice mail (iPhone)
Plus plus plus

Here's what I've got:

* My fave 8 - unlimited national calling to and from any 8 numbers I select.
* 450 anytime minutes.
* Free evenings & Week-ends start at 5pm
- free voice mail & caller ID

The above is $40 a month.

Add ons:

$15 : Unlimited incoming calls
$15 : unlimited email, Instant Messaging and Data (not offered anymore)

So lets see, $70 + 6.95 + .75 = $77.70 + tax

How does this compare with you guys? The deal I like is the unlimited data, this makes it worth it I think.

I shredded my last bill after paying it so I'm not exactly sure how the break down is but if I don't go over on anything I pay $48-ish including taxes and everything.
