You didn't read what I wrote, I only said that your octane statement was off. Please pay attention. I happen to know plenty on this subject, lets not compare lawn mower (4 stroke, except lawn boy) to 2 stroke (looper or cross flow charged) engines, not including todays 4 stroke outboards. Why mention cams, or valves here they have nothing to do with the subject. To say its not bothered by octane because of the type of oil used provides proof enough that your swimming in the shallow end here. I don't have knowledge of 3rd world gas, probably doesn't have ethanol in it though. Pehaps you should re-read some of the above post and think about it

It's amazing how fast a simple question that has already had a simple answer can turn into a lesson on third world countries and the the mechanics of a two stroke engine.

If it smells like gas and starts just run it and enjoy the boat. If you don't want to take a chance then dispose of it, refill and enjoy the boat. This isn't rocket science.
If the poor guy waits until this debate is over the gas will be 2 years old and bad for sure.
