Obama: I hope he picks John F'n Kerry.

McCain: He needs to pick a solid conservative like Romney.

Yep, Powell was tremendously popular in the US. He possessed boatloads of political capital.

Gee, I wonder who spent it?

For which party? I heard a rumor that Powell was going to endorse Obama.

As much as I like Condi Rice, I think she is a little burned out from her current gig. IMO, she needs to fly under the radar for a few years, then start playing a more prominent role (Head of the RNC?) and make a comeback 4-8 years from now. She could still be president someday if she plays her cards right.

I personally would like to see Romney as McCain's pick. Probably won't happen, though.

I think Obama will pick Biden, which is a smart pick for him.

It's going to be a very close election, but right now I like McCain's chances. IMO, the VP selection really won't make that big a difference.

I'm very familiar with Mitt Romney as he was the Governor of Massachusetts! He is my pick for McCain! The is an extreemely successful Buisiness Man with a great head for Economics+ he was my pick for pres. for the Republican party! Don't fool yourself, either O'Bama or McCain will be a One Term Pres. So the VP is a very important decision for both parties!.....

I thought that just about everyone in the country, including McCain, hated Romney? He got bashed pretty badly here in Massachusetts but a republican govenor in a ultra liberal state like Massachusetts has definitely got his work cut out for him. I think he did a decent job under the circumstances.

I hope Biden is the D pick. He's got a lot of skeletons in his closet, in the form of sound bites. He would be an amusing pick.

To be honest, both parties candidated for president would probably do a better job as vice themselves.

There is no winning this election.

Honestly, I am very surprised to see all the Colin Powell love.

IMO, he is a RINO (Republican in Name Only). Plus, he is probably one of the only Republicans in the nation that would flat out refuse. I would be absolutely shocked if McCain picks Powell.

While either party's VP nominee will have a leg up on the 2012 nomination, I really don't think the '08 VP selection will influence voters that strongly. The big issue is going to be "Do you want to take a chance on Obama?"

I actually typed that and backed out of it.
Some people get thrown under the bus but, Powell got played like a slot machine.

So am I. I thought that guy was a memory after that WMD thing. Maybe it wasn't his fault. - Og

Hill is ugly, but that is not why she is out of the race.

She probably would have been the next president except for two things:

1) Her campaign was incompetent, and got out of the gate slow because they took if for granted she would win the nomination

2) The mainstream press turned on her, and went 'all in' for Obama.

While she is a seriously flawed candidate, so are Obama and McCain. If the dems and media unified behind Hillary like she planned, and if Barry Obama was content with the VP slot, she would be way ahead of McCain in the polls, IMO.

I'll bet she pops a vessel every time a new Obama gaffe or scandal pops up.
