I can't tell you how much I hate hospitals !!

I can't believe them, they are legalized thiefs, the government needs to do something about them. Everyone always complains about how the doctors make so much money. I rarely hear someone complaining about how much the hospital makes. Just recently, as a lot of you know, I had some hardware removed from my back from when I broke my back due to pain. The doctor got paid ~$2,000 for his work ... Personally, I don't think that's that much, considering it was open back surgery. Now onto the hospital, you know how much they made? The hospital made $18,000 for me being their for one day !! I hate them !!

Last November I had a double knee replacement---between the hospital stay and then the move to the rehab unit---nine days in the hospital---$86,000. It sounds like I made out better than you did...

Thankfully my medical insurance covered it.

I have an old golf buddy that went for a knee replacement on October 13th. They discovered an ulcer, did surgery on his stomach, messed up his medications and he finally got out on December 24th. HE very nearly died form the medication overdose. Cost was just over $1,000,000.

When I had my "original" visit the bills ended up being about 1.5 mil between the two hospitals, doctors, etc.

Some one is paying for it. Thats why Medical Insurance premiums are so high.

Did you also hear how hospitals are now making deals with Drug companies to "sponsor" their perscriptions. A Doc got wise to the situation when he perscribed a Percription "Tums" bc his patient could not take Pepcid AC for some reason. Well his patient got sick(er) and sued the doc. The doc dug around found out that the adminstration changed his Rx to Pepcid because they had a contract with the Pepcid drug manufacturer.

to your health

Ouch! that hurt.

I doubt it'll change. It's a part of the cost of everything rising as time goes by. I'm sure the same procedure would have been a lot of money many years ago comparing it to the cost of things back then.

I've heard you save money if you don't have them clean the OR between patients.

A co-worker's dad fell on bad health and had to spend a couple weeks in the hospital. They ran a slew of tests, put him on some new medication and sent him home.

A week or two after that, they got a bill in the mail for like $132,000.
