I see what you're saying, but it was HIS decision to leave. Make your bed and sleep in it. My .02. - Og

Did anybody else see the segment on Sportscenter where they compared Brett Favre to Cher? It was pretty hilarious, glad to see someone actually showing the other side of the story instead of feeling sorry for him.

He doesn't have my sympathy. They want to pay him to leave. Who gets a deal like that besides him and Mariah Carey? It's a friggin' soap opera. Go home and clean the gutters, Brett. - Og

He didn't want to retire and made it clear. The Packers wanted him to retire and pressured him into his decision.

If he didn't want to retire, why the hell was there the 'Brett Favre watch' every off season to see whether he was going to come back or not?
If he reported to camp every year and didn't ever mention the thought of retiring, he would have never been 'pressured' as you put it.
He's brought all of this crap on himself and I think he likes all of the attention.

It's not like old Stevie Y didn't do the same.

Wow, you have a very different recollection of the end of Yzerman's career than I do. I don't recall him contemplating retiring each of his last few seasons. Injuries are another story. He was hurt one off-season and didn't know if he could come back. Favre was never hurt while contemplating retiring.
I don't know why you would even bring up Yzerman. He has more class than Favre could ever hope for.

OK. I snuck in a jab with Stevie Y, I really like him (always have, even though he's a hated Red Wing), but I disagree with you on Favre.

But your analogy is very one sided, and leaves out a lot of the past history between the 'couple', lol.

Here's a better analogy: You married the girl of your dreams and had some great years together. You build a great career in her town, where she has a rich family, who supports you in style. Eventually, you agree to divorce, as she feels the relationship has run its course and no longer has a chance to go to the 'Superbowl of Love'.

The divorce papers are all written up, and you move out.

A few months after you signed the papers, you change your mind and try to get back together for one more try. She says sorry, no can do - she's found a younger man. You **** and moan and make a scene in her social circle, and cause great grief and embarrassment to her famiiy, despite all the wonderful years you had. Out of anger, you try to **** her hated enemy from high school, and everyone finds out about it.

Her rich family who supported you for all your married life offers you a big fat increase in your alimony to go away. But you have already made an *** of yourself to all your mutual friends.
Haha. Nice! That's pretty good. I guess to me it's just not that big of a deal that he retired and now wants to come back. I really think the media, as always, blew it out of proportion. To me, it's between the team and Brett Favre. I know it doesn't work this way, but I think they should take a team vote. Then make him compete for the starting position. I like Favre and I think he should be the starter but lets face it, he's older now, and he needs to prove each year that he's still got it.

I think a big question (older) players need to ask each year, regardless of how much they love the game and want to play more, is it worth it to put their body through the punishment that they endure all season?
