Anyone have a pool?
I just put a pool in last month and I am pretty knew at it. My parents had a pool growing up but my dad handled all the chemicals and such, so I never really knew too much about it, or could care less, i just went swimming. Anyway does anyone have any tips on keeping the chemicals just right?. I am using a system called Synergy, I belive it is not chlorine, but a chlorine type product, it does not burn your skin and eyes like chlorine. I have a chlorinator and I put a few of the synergy tabs in once a week along with a bottle of clear that comes with the kit and I have been adding a capful of shock once a week. Everything has been good, the water has been clear and the PH and alkalinity have been pretty stable. I did have a bit of a algae problem two weeks ago, but i think I left the solar cover on for a few days and never took it off and the water clouded up bad. I have since taken the solar cover off and used the solarpill, it is a liquid solar cover and it seems to be working. So anyway I am just wondering what other people do to keep thier water just right and maybe some tips or a different ways to use chemicals or different systems. Thanks..
I just take a water sample to my local pool place, they test it free and tell me what I need to add if anything. They will need to know how many gallons your pool is and type of system. I have a salt system which I really like. Like your synergy, no chlorine smell, no green hair, no red eyes. Only maintenace I have done this year is bring up the acidity a little bit and a few other minor additives to keep the water correct.
Chems
For chemicals I use the 12 pound bags of Baking Soda from Sam's club to raise alkalinity. It's like $4.50 a bag and is the same as anything u buy at the pool store. I also use Mule Team Borox to raise PH. You can buy it at Wal-Mart or Target, heck even my grocery store carries it. Saves A LOT of money compared to the pool store.

i would call the guy that installed it.
my pool is also new and i dont hesitate to ask him for advice.
from what my guy says, i need to have the water tested once a month and keep records in case there are any issues with the plaster or equipment.

I am in the pool industry out in San Diego. I own a Leak Detection company, and also remodel pools. I strongly suggest having your water tested. this will give you a base to start. From my experience the solar pill is B.S. my cost is like 3 bucks and I wouldn't sell it for a 1.50. neways the cloudiness of your water is due to poor circulation. A few questions though....
Do you have a pool vacuum (navigator, kreepy krawly)
Plaster, vinyl, or fiberglass pool?
How long does the system run per day?
Pool spa combo or straight pool?
Pm me with any and all questions.
