Not to knock the importance of this issue but I just cant help thinking there are much more pressing issues they need to be dealing with. No one in America has ever owned a slave. No one has ever been a slave not for several (5+?) generations. We should be dealing with real problems facing all the population today. This is political buffoonery.

Is it any wonder why their approval rating is so low? Instead of actually doing what they were elected to do they choose to create stupid superficial legislation that provides no benefit to this country. This is by far one of the lowest election year ploys that I have ever seen.

Why spend taxpayer funded time to apologize for something that ended more than 40 years before the oldest Congressman was born! Get over it.
What's next, an apology to the Irish, the American Indians, and the Chinese that built the railroads? Let's pre-emptively apologize to everyone whose ancestors were mistreated and get it over with all at once. Then maybe we can move on!
