Front Porch: Before and After!

My wife and I never really liked the railing on our front porch. It's the white plastic rail and baluster system that just looks cheap to me. Nothing on the house is white so it just didn't look right. It started sagging baddly after a couple of years so I decided to change it. Since I was changing the railing I decided to build all new shutters to match as well. Let me know what you think about the new look.

Here's the old porch with the white plastic railing.

Second view.

The new porch and shutters. I built it to match my deck which is also stained pine with the same black aluminum balusters.

The wife wanted the front door red... so she got it.

Thanks guys. I thought at first that is was too much, but it really ties everything together. It matches the deck really well. Our privacy fence is also stained and has black wrought iron gates that match the balusters. I have to be honest, when i leave the house I drive really slow after I get to the road so I can look at it. It came out better than I thought it was going to.

I can't ever get him to sit still long enough to take a good picture, but somehow he manages to get in a lot of my pics!

Thanks... I took strap hinges for a gate, pulled them apart, then bolted them to the shutters. I wanted them to look like they are functional even though they aren't.

I find that with our dogs as well, the oly way that you can get them to be still is to wait for them to fall asleep otherwise its pretty difficult to get a good shot.

Looks great. When you freshen up the flower beds go with a similar pine colored mulch. Not the same color, but similar.
