Pc Question?
I periodically get a error message saying something like "cyclic redundancy error, cannot continue" when using my dvd burner on my pc. I have yet to understand exactly what this means (other than the fact it will not continue) can anyone explain it to me (in laymans terms) and if possible a way not to get this error!
A CRC or cyclic redundancy check is an error check run on streams of data... when a bit stream comes in, it may look like 1110111000110111011 and so on... the CRC says that for a given number of bits, the checksum, or addition of numbers (in this case) would be 13 for 19 total places (number of ones). This is one of the most basic forms of CRC, they are usually more complicated algorithms, but that's the jist of it.
Now, for your problem, I assume this is happening when you're trying to burn a CD/ DVD? If so, then it's probably because you're trying to burn at too high of a speed and it's causing errors in the burning process. Try slowing the speed down.

I mean the burning speed... 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X etc. If when it is analyzing the success of the burn after it's done (right before it ejects the disk), then try lowering the burn speed to 2X, and see how it works then
