Thanks Z..
I have blocked speedvillian from all conscious and subconscious thoughts. He will now only appear as a slight bend in the space time continuum only perceptible in the utmost corner of my near field vision.

And the reason all of your smaller TVs are lcd is because people like the idea of being a flat screen and thin. Same reason people like laptops over desktops, its smaller, thinner, lighter. Dollar to Dollar DLP is still better for watching movies and sports because of the 120hrtz refresh rate that you dont get unless you spend top dollar in lcd same as dollar to dollar a desktop is better for performance over a laptop.
You forgot that people choose laptops over desktops for a primary reason. They are PORTABLE..

Another fact for DLP lovers.. Plasma and LCD's you'll get 50,000 hours of use.. New models are at 100,000 hours use.. Now isn't that what we want out of life maintenance free products. I wish they made cars the way they make plasmas ... I've been reading threads of DLP owners and they sound stressed out. Do you see why DLP's are so cheap?? Being a former owner of a rear projection tv I can say one thing.. Thank god they came out with something better..

The only DLP owners that whine about replacing bulbs every 5,000 hours are the ones that are completely incompetent with a screwdriver. Seriously, it's not that hard. Just remove a panel, unplug and slide out the old one then throw in the new one. I'd rather save a couple thousand bucks and replace a damn lightbulb every five years while getting the same picture quality.

So true, its almost easier than changing a light bulb in your own house, if not as easy.

You're right, it's very easy to change. Also, I LOVE the picture and sound from this TV (personally I think they have a better contrast and "pop" than a LCD television).

If I could get a bulb to last 5 year's I wouldn't complain at all. So far I've only been able to get them to last a year or so.

I've since turned down my brightness settings which seems to have helped with the "heat". I'm hoping this bulb lasts longer.

2 year Samsung DLP owner. No issues with the bulb yet and the set is on probably 8 hours a day. One thing.....has anyone else noticed the "rainbow effect" with their tv's. Now mine is 720p so I'm sure that is part of the problem, but at times it is very annoying. I notice it more on SD channels but do notice it on HD channels also, especially sporting events. Just curious if anyone else has the same problem.

No idea what the rainbow effect is, but I have a ~6 year old Samsung 56" 1080i and don't see any rainbows on my screen lol.

They make new dlp tv with led technoogy now , its a led buld so it last longer then regular one does. Ive had my jvc 56" dlp for like 4-5 years now and have not had to replace bulb yet. Just had to reset timer one time. I also have a 32" lcd in bed room both are great pciture for hd. I got dlp years ago when lcd and plasmas were a arm and a leg for like 32-42"' size. No complaints yet with mine.
