Smoke leaves JGR

Tony Stewart has been granted release from his contract at seasons end. He will go to Haas CNC and will buy 50 percent and rename it Stewart Haas Racing. He will become the highest paid NASCAR driver as well. Sorry I can't post a link I'm on my PDA.....havent figured that out yet. That's the clifnotes anyway.......

Pretty crazy considering th season JGR is having. He must really hate driving toyotas lol.

Do you NASCAR guys think he is making the right move?

The big question is do they put Logano in the famed #20 H.D. car or do they shift the drivers?

It's going to be kind of weird seeing Tony Stewart suck in Nascar. JGR has so much resourses.

in a couple of years, hendrick will be powering a huge portion of the field. 4 cars at hendrick, 2-3 at DEI, 1-2 at JR motorsports, 2 at HAAS racing.

Logano will be in the 20 car next year. Hamlin and Busch have contracts, memorablia, etc. Putting Logano in the 20 is the easiest thing to do.

Stewart was scheduled to tell his team on Wednesday that this will be his last season, then announce on Thursday in Chicago that he has bought into Haas CNC Racing and will drive for that team with another driver -- Ryan Newman, according to sources.

He'll struggle some, but he's going to do better than most give him credit for. HAAS has a rolling wind tunnel, the only one I believe. ALOT of support from GM; all his USAC cars and Eldora are GM sponsored. And of course help from Hendrick.

And I'll root for him from Daytona to Homestead!

does this mean the gibbs love parade is over??? i cant wait to see how they will drool over lagano in cup. They will of course call him the best driver in cup, just like they do in GNS, while being handed one of the best cars in the entire series, but no, it's his driving skill.

Probably the best business decision he's ever made. He becomes vested in success, and is back in a GM car, which I feel he has loathed since Toyota showed up at JGR.

I'd rather have him than Ryan Newman as a teammate.

I would take newman over kyle anyday as a "teammate." kyle is the better driver of the 2 but I'm sure he aint the best teammate.

it looks like JGR will now have 3 arrogant punks on the team next year. the golden boy Lagono is gonna get zippy as his crew chief too.

I hope it works out for smoke.

It'll be like that Nascar commercial where the kids have remotes controlling the cars and Tony Stewart yells Zippy, run for your life!

Three arrogant punks??? He already has three, he will just be replacing one. From a business side it will be good, but I don't think he will be a factor as a driver.
