Anyone play the banjo?

Just wondering if we have any banjo players here. I've picked the guitar since I was in 3rd grade (I'm 24) and I'm wanting to buy a banjo.
I know from guitar and 11 years in band that the quality of the instrument is very important to how well you learn it.

Any advice?

Edit: Wow, I just noticed my sig is like 4 years old lol

I don't play, but i happen to know the guy that makes "Tony Pass" banjo rims. I've listened to him play, but he likes to play pre civil war stuff. I just can't get excited about the old stuff.
He reinvented the solid wood rims and can't keep up with the orders for them.

From: Georgia on my mind...
Dean makes a six string banjo that's tuned just like a guitar (EADGBe). If you can play a guitar, you can probably cross over to that thing without too much drama.

I hear Deering makes good banjos too.

yea ive played a 6 string, guitar-tuned banjo before, but i think that learning a traditional 5-string banjo is a better way to go.
Ill check out Deering brand and see what i can find
Thanks!
