Brett Favre

Give me a f&#@ing break. It wouldn't surprise me if he pulls a Roger Clemens and shows up on opening day somewhere just so he can play without going through training camp. This stuff is getting reeeeaaaal old. If he goes back to Green Bay, they're just as stupid as he is. If you wanna play, shut up and just keep on playing. If you wanna retire, say so and JUST DO IT ALREADY. Guys like him think they're bigger than the game. If he does play again, are we gonna hafta go through another hour long teary-eyed retirement announcement?
Enough already.

I like Brett Favre, but I have to agree that when a player chooses to retire....then stay retired. I actually lose respect for players that do this.

It's like last year in the NHL with the Ducks. Selanne and Neidermeyer were "contemplating" retirement until over halfway into the season, then they decide to play again right before the playoffs which also allowed the Ducks to avoid their salaries affecting the salary cap. BS if you ask me.

Off topic for Red Wing Nut:

MARION FRICKIN HOSSA BABY!

Might as well keep this an all Michigander thread so far....

... yeah, its BS if that douche suits up again. He is one of few players I have a shread of respect for. That of course will go right out the window if I see him on the field this fall. God that pisses me off.

I don't follow NFL much, but I'm guessing he's coming out of retirement.

If you're gonna retire, stay that way.

Speaking of un-retiring, Mark Martin announced today he's drving for Hendrick Motorsports full time next year. He's ran the last 2 years part time.

Time for Mark to make up his mind.

Favre shouldn't have retired in the first place.

If one decides to retire, well, retire! I cannot take people who live life like a boucing basketball! It just clearly says that his identity is defined by being on the playing field & that is all he has going on in his life, which quite frankly at his age & with his money is quite sad!.............

The Cowboys will win the same number of playoff games this season as they won last season.

Sad thing, they were the best in the NFC last season, and will be this again season.

I hope he does come back. He's a true quarterback. No fancy showboating crap on the field. He's about the game. I wish more players were like him. If he comes back, all that says to me is that he loves the game and he realized just how much in the offseason. That crap about being on the field defining his identity and being all he has going on in his life is rediculous. Why can't a guy just love the game. Put yourself in his shoes. I love football. When I played in school I used to dred practice and all the hard work that went into it. The punishment the body took. It takes it's tol on a person. But come offseason, you start to miss it... a lot. The same way we miss watching it, they miss playing it. you don't realize it until its over.

What im worried about is him going out in a bad way. If he would just say retired, he left in a classy way. Yeah he didnt win the superbowl last season but he had a good run and is ready to step down. Imagine how good roger clemens would look in the media if he stayed retired.

I can't argue that, but if you're not ready, then you're not ready.

Now thats some thinking I can get behind..

Anyway, Favre is old and needs to let it go. Green Bay needs to let go too, and give Rodgers a chance... I remember the Packers/Cowboys game last year- Packers down by a few scores, Favre mysteriously gets hurt (like he always does when he is losing), Rodgers comes in and runs the Green Bay offense better than Favre had all game.
