New to the forum

Hey all,

I just bought my truck on the 25th of June and have been reading this site ever since. I want to start doing upgrades just don't know where to start. I have an 06 XLT SuperCab 4x4 with the 5.4. Just any info where I should start would be helpful, Thanks.

Welcome! If you want more performance and better shifting, a tuner is number one.

Which is more important, appearance or performance.?
The one thing that changes the appearance the most is always wheels.
The first power enhancement is always a tune.

I think my truck already looks good so i want performance. Wouldn't it be better to get my exhaust and CAI first that way i make the most out of my tunes? Just curious.

That is a great question. You should not get an intake without an exhaust to let the extra flow out. You should not get an intake without a custom tuned tuner to keep it from running lean. However, if you get the Gryphon tuner, you can enjoy the 25 or 30 HP it adds with the canned tunes which are for a stock vehicle, until you get an intake. Then you can get your custom tunes at that point. You can do an exhaust first without a problem, as it really does not cause any problems. You need to put together an overall plan, using the most compatible products to achive what you want. Knowing what I know now, if I bought a new truck, my plan would be as follows.

1. Exhaust, probably the Roush Offroad, if not, Flowmaster 40.

2. Gryphon

3. Decide if I wanted an intake and if yes, either S&B or AF1, but not install it until I received custom tunes from www.powerhungryperformance.com.

You will get lots of opinion as everyone has one and their ideas and wants are different. Not saying my way is the only way or even the best necessarily, but it fits what I want to achieve. A dependable, fun to drive truck. Whuch I think I have. Good luck with your progress.

The computer will adjust for a cold air intake and an exhaust. No tune is needed. You'll get more power from a tune... with or without the intake and exhaust.
