Big deal. It'll save the police the trouble of having to arrest the people who protest out of the zone, since they won't be able to get out of it.
They did the same thing at some gay pride parade around here over the weekend.

I am from MN and we are suffering the same persecution because of the upcoming Republican Convention, so to all of you who are blaming Democrats: Get educated or ****, you only make yourself look stupid. This is about our rights being taken away, and no particular political party is to blame, the entire government is.
It needs to be mentioned that this practice was invented during the Bush campaign by the Republicans. Where were you all then?

I looked for similar stories about the RNC before I posted it im not saying they are not there but I did not find anything other than posts on msg boards no actual news stories
BTW DNC, RNC, Gay pride, doesnt matter it should not be happening remember innocent until proven guilty not penned in so we can arrest all of you just for fun

They usually just arrest the people who go OUT of the pen. Rules are rules and most cities have ordinances like this. It's more to keep people from causing a scene/disturbance/trouble than to infringe on your first ammendment rights. You still have free speech, just in a confined area. Besides, you wouldn't want somebody ruining your party, would you?
I can see both sides of it though, but unfortunately, the people who take their protesting too far ruin it for all the people who just want to hold signs and get their message out.

I have seen anti-war rallies anti abortion rallies anti gun rallies and the usual crap I usually roll my window down and scream obscenities at just for fun, in downtown tucson and phoenix and several others while driving over the road as a truck driver never seen any one of them in pens and if this were S.O.P. I highly doubt any newspaper would actually bring it up and the ACLU most certainly would not be standing up for republicans unless it were pretty egregious
