At one time I had a Kawasaki 750GTX {I think GTX was the letters} It would do about 45 to 50. I just like the standups better I've owned the whole series of Kawasaki stand up from the 300 to 650sx. Man I used to love to ride those things. Beleave it or not the one that was most fun was tha 300 with the Hammer kit. Slow compaired to modern sitdowns. But that thing was FUN!
and submersable

If you are looking to get two skis, I would suggest getting one three seater and one two seater. Both the SD GTX and the Yami FXHO are good for recreational usage. Since you're young and looking to just screw around and haul ***, look at the Yami GP1300R for a second ski. You can find one in good condition for under $5k. Since they're two stroke's, you can pick up aftermarket parts for them for cheap. You can get one going 70+ mph for under $3k, where getting a four stroke going that fast would cost you over $5k.

Jet skis are fun and all but I dont see how someone could pay $12,000 for a two seater jet ski when you can get a 17-18ft boat for about the same price. I guess I am getting old.

What in the world are you talking about? A SeaDoo RXP with a 160 lbs rider will do a GPS verified 69 mph. It will only take a couple hundred dollars of mods to get into 70+ mph. If you spent $3,000 on it, you'd be doing about 76-77 mph.

My 1998 seadoo GSX did 60mph on the GPS and that was plenty fast for me. The stock RXP's are plenty fast enough stock. Anything on the water isnt very reliable anyways so why mess with it and make it more un reliable than it already is.

Sorry, was supposed to be "going 80+". You can get an RXP over 70 by adjusting the ride plate and filling bolt holes on the bottom of the ski, $30 max. Paying $5k for one mile per hour would be egregious.

Gotcha, I thought there was a typo, but you can never be too sure.

Do you have any links to those two mods?

Alright, here's a link for adjusting the ride plate on a RXP:

RXP Porpoising and Correcting the Condition

The site has a plethora of information on it. Its almost identical to this site; other people spending your money for you.

As for filling the holes, just put JB Weld in them and smoothe it off so its flush with the rest of the ride plate. Do this after you space the ride plate of course.

Thanks a bunch for the link. Sounds good. I don't want to start spending money on the ski but free mods are free mods.

Nice choice of ski. I'm looking to buy a two seater soon, but I think I'm going to get a GPR since I dont have a ton of money.

I'm trying to think of other cheap mods that you can do, but I'm coming up blank. It might have something to do with me starting to drink at 5.

GPRs are awesome skis. I was very close to buying one but at the time I got a three year warranty for free so I thought I'll just keep it stock and just have fun with it. So far I've been real good about keeping it stock considering what I do to my vehicles.

We have owned a few jetskis. All yamaha. We had a 98 xl760 that we sold the first of june that was an awsome ski. It would hit 55-60 depending on conditions, very reliable, but a gas guzzler. We also have a 04 Fx HO that is a great ski. It has plenty of power for the average family and will keep up with most on the water. However the FX SHO that we just got is amazing. The power response and handling with the nanocell hull makes it just skip across the water while performing spins. I havnt spent a whole lot of time on it, but the time i have it was a blast.

Fx Ho: Good power, excellent gas milage, easy to handle, and stable

Fx SHO: To powerful for a beginner IMO, runs on REGULAR unleaded (not premium like the seadonts), convienent features (cupholder, boarding ladder), looks cool. Its a yamaha.
